AngeIgirl I highly recommend you the Sagem MYX-5-2, it has camera, more memory, better screen and better irda conectivity (you can send/receive files to/from other phones).. Now let's back to the My-X8 subject :)

Bought my X8 on my last trip to Hong Kong on 12/17/05.
Visual and sound are outstanding. It is a great phone to look at and listen to.
I am using the phone in the US. It works fine. However, if you are used to using Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones, it will take some getting used to.
There are certain features that you cannot customize with the phone. This may be nit-picky, but I've been so used to doing this with my other phones that it is an obvious difference with the Sagem X-8. You can't customize the calendar, phone book listing, call-list listing, etc.
Also, it does not seem to accept current JAVA or MOPHUN games. I have tried every which way to upload the games however, the phone does not know where to save them or how to save them, so it dumps them.
The phone has 40MB built in, with a MINI-SD card slot. I am currently using a 256MB mini-SD card. Once again, however, the camera/video/audio does not save directly to the mini-SD card. You have to download to the PC and load to the card and then back to the phone. egg-chicken thing
Bluetooth is also kind of quirky. Unlike Nokia and Sony, this phone is not capable of setting up direct ftp, or serial links to a PC. You must use the SAGEM or WELLPHONE software to get video and pics to and from the phone. I will say that I have been sucessful is sending pics and ringtones to and from other phones.
The phone is on the bigger side of size. Smaller than the old black berry's or the current large Nokia, but bigger than an T616/K700i/or 6600 series phone.
MP3 player is nice and sound out of the speaker on the phone is the best I have ever heard. And believe it or not, the battery life so far is not "that" bad. Getting the battery out of the phone however to get to the SIM is a pain. I can never seem to click it out.
Has a function to use applet type software, but other than what comes with the phone, I have not found any other to upload to it.
Design-wise the phone is beautiful. Looks more like an I-Pod than a phone. Do not buy the black, buy the white. The phone is much cleaner in the white version. Brushed aluminum and powder coated plastic and metal all around.
All in all a very nice phone. Like I said, it just takes some getting used to. Feel free to write with questions.

PS - oh yeah, calendar function and contacts can be sync'ed with outlook and the phone is internet ready and e-mail capable depending on your carrier. Best looking WAP phone for surfing.

Why do you say that? The K700i was the same price sim free when it first came out.
It's gone down to £291 now.

Hey all - hahaha no time travel. Jet lag sucks. Of course it was 12-17-04.
The camera is unbelivable. True 1.3 megapixel. No software needed. Flash is great. However, no macro function, so you should be at least 6 inches away from your target.
Here's a shot. Too close to the rose, but check the detail of the surroundings. Not bad. The picture was reduced by this web site to 530x1280 (was 960x1280)
The one java game it comes with is fast. Plays soundtrack and sfx at the same time, with no slow-down.
Wap runs fast. Here in the US, when I log on, the icons appear smaller than on my old sony's or nokia's. I'm assuming this is because the resolution on the screen is so high.
I've been using it now for a month. Works great. Battery life is decent. Speaker phone feature is outstanding. I used it on a conference call in a room with 3 other people. We all conferenced on with someone in the states. The speaker and the mic worked perfect.
MP3 player sounds great. However, I'm looking for an adapter to use my own head phones. The ones supplied are uncomfortable.
Can sync with Outlook no problem. Calendar and contacts.
I performed the JBenchmark Test. I submitted the results.
