Dont think our alert-pain will be solved in the next future. I am not interested in mp3 solutions, more in official, useable se alerts.

Very nice post, pal. I do think, the sms alerts are so unique and distinct. [addsig]

I just have a theory. I don't think the K700's firmware should be modified, but I think those MESSAGE ALERTS may be modified. Since they are MIDI files, perhaps there is a way to access these files and probably overwrite them with another sound file. Or even edit these standard message alerts.

There must be someone out there who can do this!!! How do we access these message alerts?

(PS. Well I think the K700i message alerts should be customizable. For those who don't SMS much, it's not a problem with them. But for people who receive LOTS of text messages a day (like me), they would want some VARIETY.)

Wow 7 month old thread dug up! But the situation still prevails. Hope they give more choices for the sms tone in the clara and the newly launched 3G handsets.

I dont think that 2 long beeps are so much to ask. Even nokia offers the old sounds and alerts in new format in the latest fones.

Yup, and the new format sounds just like a mobile phone of a cave man. It's got that echoing sound heard from inside Mr. Caveman's home (a cave!)

I have a P910 so I'm not complaining but when I had my T68, how I wish they just retained the old and original sms tone as an option. That was loud. Another prob with the T68 was that the vibra was too weak that you neither heard nor felt your phone go off while in your pocket.
