funny how times change...
only 2 yrs ago everyone was happy to have a 1mp camera and 1gb storage...i know my demands and expectations have soared in the last 2 years..

for me, a new p-series should have:

- 3.2 megapixel carl zeiss auto.focus camera (like k800i or better)
- faster graphic card to playback videos with no problems
- 5 way jog dial
- high resolution gallery with different views (like k800i)
- calendar alarm setting for single ring or vibrate once
- faster menus, programme start-up and better memory management
- a music player with editable equalizer and radio in one
- radio without headphones (if that's possible)
- animated themes
- usb 2.0 (it takes long to copy films across)
- mac os x support (stop arguing and sort it out, we live in 2007 not 1997)
- a decent se theme editor for mac os x without bugs where you can really edit all parts of a theme and get a preview without installing first...

My how our expectations have lept up. Stereo bluetooth is close to being standard across the range, even on non music players.

No less than 5mp cybershort with zenon flash cam, vga recording at 30 fps, 16 million colour screen, HSDPA, EDGE, quadband, more than 300mhz processor, walkman player, metal frame, WLAN and some extras I can't think of at the moment.

Wow! Most of these features describe a Nokia phone.

Makes one wonder what Miles Flint meant, when the iphone was announced, when he said he welcomed any comptition but he wasn't afraid of it.

SE can't even compete with Nokia and he's going to utter such statements!

For me.
Important:
Thinner case,
better more integrated organiser apps.
Landscape mode screen especially in the browser.
1.3 megapixel cam
Record in call

Nice.
Slightly bigger screen (going closer to edge of existing phone)
2.0 Megapixel autofocus camera, light/flash
Radio
Wi-Fi
Faster processor.
More sytem ram.
Better Qwerty pad
USB 2.0 Sync station
Retractible USB plug on phone turns it into pen drive(s) for easy file sharing.

I'm serious, SE needs to stop using these shady 208Mhz Philips Nexperia processors. Use Intel PXAs or something, 200Mhz is just not enough for what a phone like the P990i is supposed to do and handle. Multitasking is not even an option, even with the added RAM.

P700i still uses the same 208Mhz processor. I'm sure its gonna be as sluggish as the P990i.
