Ok to make more sense of this topic here goes.
First of all. Orange and o2 are not the same compnay, they are seperate mobile phone operators.

To make more sense on the GPRS charges:

o2: PAYG Charge £2.35 per Mb and Contracts £2.35

Orange: PAYG charge £4 per Mb and on Contract £3 MB.

Vodafone: PAYG charge if you stay on the vodafone live pages £1 per MB. If you leave vodafone live £7.50 per mb,
Conract can vary from £2.35 per mb to £7.50 per mb depending on which contract you are on.

T-Mobile: PAYG charge £20.48 per Mb(0.02 per kb. 1024kb in 1 mb)
and £7.50 per 1mb on contract

There are also many budles you can have on the networks.

I cant say why o2 are not charging. I think they were on watchdog regarding the same problem?
If o2 arnt charging then good luck to you, but nothing lasts forever!!
