Welcome aboard all!
Not sure about the single currency though, we in the UK so far are staying out of it, and I personally think that's good - I don't like the idea that inflation etc. is controlled from Brussels and not locally. Do people from Hungary and the other countries joining the EU shortly want to be part of the single currency?

I think, euro will be an official currency in Slovakia and Czechia (new name ) in 2009. We aren't pleased with it too much.

I see people being concerned about loosing their national identity, language and culture if EU becomes one country and some one gave the example of yugoslavia. It need not be like that I can give an example, I am from India and in India the country is divided into different states like the US and almost every state has its own language, alphabet, culture, history, cusine, dress etc people from one state can't understand the language of the people from another state and nor would they like most of the food in another state. So India is pretty much like the EU as one country only with four times more population. We have 28 states with 15 official langauges (languages which are fully developed with its own alphabet, grammer etc) and about 400 dialects.
So what I am trying to say is that we have succesfully mangaged such a diverse country as on nation for 56 years now so it shouldn't be a problem for the europeans. IMO as long as it is a democracy and have a well defined constitution it is no problem.
What you guys think?
