Right now here in Portugal everibody is worried about the possibilitie of attacks during the Euro 2004. There be people from all western people here, and in other hand Portugal did also support the invasion of Iraq.
My opinion is that Al Quaeda won´t attack in such an event, when security is prepared an high, they prefer the surprise...but you never know
Nevertheless, I already have tickets for the two games here in Coimbra, my hometown, and i´m looking forward to it

We *will* face danger? Well... there has been danger throughout the 80ies (when Saddam received american support <- note) and the 90ies (spread terror-attacks, even when it comes from americans attacking americans)... But yes, there will be more and more I'm afraid...

I think it wasn't ETA because ETA has no beef with the people on the train. ETA has issues with political Spain... not the man-in-the-street if you will. The Basque man-in-the-street does not want to be a part of a slaughter like this..... and ETA needs the support. Don't think it was them.

@Vlammetje Well, you have the Münich attacks back in the 70ies, and the Atlanta bombings, though these weren't islamic-fundamentalist related, but I am pretty sure that individuals who want to commit acts of terror has their eyes on Athens&it's surroundings. |

@Vlammetje, good point...the people killed, labor workers, fundamently socialists and comunists, are preciselly ETA´s base of support outside in inside the Bask region.
You want proofs??? Just look for who was arrested and who is wanted: algerians, marroquis, jordans - hardly etarras. Look at the tape. The video. The email. The threats.
ETA had to be completly insane, much more than they already are, to make something like that, completly different from their past, and agains their people

If the idea behind it is to create massive fear in everyone who is not a fundamentalist... then the Olympics would be the logic target. As sad as it may sound.
But then again..... they always wait till security is half sleeping again before they attack...... until somebody somewhere has managed to convince himself 'we're safe for now'

You got to have in mind that the games are in GREECE, which means crappy organization!
I mean, they haven't even finished half of the structures yet FFS!

You don't have to be afraid of the security in this year Olympics games. Security visitors,sportsmen will be secured by NATO especially by US troops. Mr. Bush was very pleased by request of Greek gov. I personally think that could be good pretence for terrorists to make a attack.
