problem has been around for.ages... not from the beginning though, mind. @all: would 10.2 (jaguar, not panther: i cant afford it) run on a G3 300 mhz with 740mb (i think) of RAM? tia
p.s. thanks for the quick reply!! |

@lozishere
it appears that panther will work on a power mac g3 with 128mb of ram so its almost guaranteed that jaguar will run on this, as long as it has built in usb support (for some reason)
there's a bunch more on the apple website http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/requirements.html including some incompatibility issues. is jaguar still for sale anywhere? |

This aint fone related but here goes.....
Think my modem might be packing up. Had to re-instal 8.6 recently and now I gotta keep changing my modem script to dial up, I've got loads of them, but my imac script doesn't sound too stable. Is the modem going?
iMac, G3, 233, 8.5, then 8.6.
Any ideas?
I've tried versiontracker and macdownloads for more recent scripts but it's all fone and GPRS stuff......
Cheers. |

@hogemeister I take it we're talking internal modem here? Had a similar problem a while back with an external GV modem. Do you use freePPP? If you do, I think you can d/l scripts from their site - can't recall the url but google should find it.
Maybe upgrading to os9/9.1 would be a solution? PM or email me and I can sort something out for you. |

@lozishere
from the apple website:
"Confirm that your hardware can run Mac OS X Version 10.3 Panther
Mac OS X Version 10.3 requires a Macintosh with a PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor, ********built-in USB*******; at least 128MB of physical RAM and a built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer. Mac OS X does not support processor upgrade cards. Verify your hardware is supported from the list below."
i added the stars tho - aint they pretty! i thought i wasnt going mad, not completly sure why its needed tho.
