As both platforms will be using simular hardware we will probably be seeing better games as the developers wont need to compromise that much when developing a game running on more than one platform. I wonder how well these new machines will handle the "old" games, some sort of emulator will be needed as they run on a different hardware setup than todays machines.

i'm pretty sure they'll do something about old games, it would be pointless to leave them redundant to existing users.

They could just join forces get 100% of the market, and come out with some unbelievable consoles, with no risk of competition! makes sense to me, no1 would even consider attempting to create another console!

Oh, forgot to mention emulators for the Xbox.
I currently have:
Mame, Gameboy advance, Snes and Megadrive emulators on my Xbox and all run at a very high standard.
I’m becoming to sound like a Xbox fanboy :S
I also have a PS2 but that only for games that are not available for Xbox ie, Man hunt, Gran turismo etc.
As for Baldurs Gates 2, I really rate that game. It is so linear and has been very dumbed down for the console. Go get StarWars KOTOR best game of last year, if not ever.

Sorry to break all your PS2 hearts
I had a PS2 for a year before I bought XBOX and I do not regret it because now after almost 2 year my XBox has more exciting games than PS2 and btw, the graphic looks far better than PS2 to not mention what my new modified XBOX can do.
It can play PS2, GC, SNES, Sega and all those games.
That is something you cant do with PS2.
You will never be able to play XBOX games on your rotten PS2 because the hardware is toooooo weak. |

shit, you got us there, I nearly cried when i read that i cant play nintendo games on my ps2, and why does everyone love the XBox, its just a PC tower turned on its side with unsold dreamcasts moulded into a controller like shape as a controller.

I don't really care about NES, SEGA ect because I have those systems, and can get Roms easy enough for my PC. GameCube on the other hand would be nice because there are a lot of GC games I'd love to have, but I don't want to buy one.

IMHO i don't see a major graphics improvement on the xbox (i do see some on some games), i saw time splitters on all the 3 major consols and they all looked roughtly the same, however this is probably because of the actual game and it wasn't taking the xbox graphics to the limit

Graphics do nothing for me compared to game play. I don't care how it looks if it isn't interesting. Case and point I play text based games because they are well built.

i agree. i have played better games on the SNES (than on XBOX) because they were interesting. |
