It is implemented in hardware - so every T68 (and T65) has it.
It is there to allow reset of the phone if it badly frozes (one cannot easily take out the battery of T65).

Hi!

Mine (T68m R2B013, Sweden) goes off when pressing NO for 10 sec when keypad is locked. But I never had any problems with this function ... I think it is quite impossible that NO button will be pressed for 10 second in your pocket! So no trables with this function!

2. Emergency numbers (112, 911, etc) ALWAYS work even if phone is locked ON ALL BRANDS (at least on NOKIA too)! And it is very smart function also like they work without SIM card. If you never had e.g. Ericsson you can not to know how to unlock it and it can take time before you understand how to made it ... add here that you may be in panic and it take much more time to understand phone functions like keypad unlocking! And it is also people that never used MOBILE phones and don't know anything about keypad locking! But mobile phone may be the only way to call in emergency cases, so calling 112 should be so simple like in usual phone!

3. When pressing my phone security code it is never displayed (first digit is "3"), but when pressing PIN code the first two didits ("04") is displayed for about second! ... But wonderful thing is that I haven't it displaed when my PIN's first digit was "6" ... but I also had R1A SW in those moment ... may be this is the reason ... should to try ...

On my T68m with R1C yes, but you must hold the "no" key very long time.

New guys on this forum use search because youīll find all the answer to your very old topics

I realize I may be a bit new here, but it seems a lot of people don't know how their phones incidentally turn off from time to time...

I found out this problem on my own...

I had just this problem and past this I searched for 'problems' here on esato... but nothing was mentioned regarding the 10-secs holding the NO-button down etc. while in the key-lock mode (only that the phone could turn off).

So I played around with my phone, since this DOES happen when I have my phone in my pocket and woopti... I WAS IN CHOCK

How can anyone really try to say this is a 'build-in' function!!!

COME ON...

or come off (as it will)

I will complain (not just for this reason) if this is not fixed with the comming week20 upgrade. It is possible to carry your phone around in your pocket in the key-lock mode and it will turn off. My nokias never did this!

You can read my first reply on this issue here on page 3:

Thanks to mrNoodles for following up on this VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE!

If ElGato is right (his phone doesn't turn off with the R2B025 update... if this will even be the name of it?) there may still be hope for all of us.

MAKE ME A BELIEVER!!!

This is one of the most stupid thing with my T68 - if all turns off - the meaning with KEY LOCK is to prevent such things to happen - But it was designed like that she said!?

Hi. Mr. mrNoodles

I think N0-Button while KEY LOCK is activated is not a bug at all. My notebook computer does the same. When the notebook freezes, pressing "CTrl/Alt/Delete" wouldn't help, the only way to turn it off is to hold on the on/off button for 10 seconds until it shut down.

I think you have just discovered another secret trick

Cheers

Have anyone here actually experienced that their T68 turns of by itself when the key-lock is activated, becuase of the NO-button being held for at least 10 sec (not purpously of course)? If noone had ever noticed this, would anyone actually care?

My old T68m turned of by itself, and I didn't even use the key-lock, nor did I keep it in my pocket! But it happened anyway! The T68-software is buggy! We all know that!

I just feel that this nagging about the T68 will never end! Just give me a T68m or T68i that works! Ain't that the point? That we should be able to use it? I don't see this as a bug! It's a feature implemented in the phone! Even though many see it as useless, might have a point in including such a feature (what the point is, I don't know)!

Hi all8 and others!
That part that a Notebook is turned off while pressing "POWER-button" for some time was a new "trick" to me - Thx!! I used to remove the battery from "Poor fellow"
Im using a Compaq Armada M700 with a little to less RAM (128Mb) and XP Pro so it sometimes gets a little "un-contactable"

But I once again, You can not really compare a cell. phone with a Computer not yet though. And on T68īs you always have the option to simple remove the battery - if or when its hangs or freezes.
I can understand that this is a rather important function for T65 owners since they dont can remove the battery as simple as we can.

And why doesnt the manual say ONE SINGLE word about this function (BUG)??
And someone said that its HW related? Are you sure it sounds to me that itīs SW. Cause if its HW, then it probably is a BUG - otherwise they should have changed it!
Come on know all non BUG believers!! Whats the meaning of having a KEY LOCK if it isnt working as itīs supposed to? It should prevent the phone from making unwanted calls or turning off when itīs in for eg. a pocket or a bag.

Just read the manual again! On page 22 (Column to the right side of page) Swedish version.
It clearly states:

The KEYS are locked until you pick up an incomming call or until you un-lock the KEYS manually.
If you want to un-lock it - push "C" and choose "Turn off KEYLOCK?"

And by reading it over and over again I cant see why this is a "FUNCTION" and not as I asume a big time BUG - and when checking in the end of the Manual under "Troubleshooting" - It doesnt say ONE word about that its a function to restart the phone when or if its hangs/freezes!!
Or does your Instruction booklets say anything other?
