The problem as I see it, is the many new threads are popping up a lot this days with titles like... "Wow... look at this new SE killer phone" or "What would SE do now", "How does T610 compare to this xxxx phone".
When I look in the forums I feel that these kind of threads are taking over from the more helpful and informative threads. I think that these threads should be removed from the SE General forum and placed in General discussions or somewhere else.
I also think that a few people today just use sentences like.. "you suck", "if you think that you are stupid" in a lot of discussions. Stuff like that degrades the conversations.
Just my opinions though
And I also believe that a few people just posts their threads in the SE general forum no matter if it belongs there or not. I think a bit stricter policy regarding the topics in specific forums (with the exeption av General discussions, Garbbage etc.) would be good.

and it is this type of reaction, that will in fact encourage them to do so.
Anybody who wants a friendly, informative and polite forum, really should start with themselves.
This forum wouldn't be here if 'newbies' (you make it sound like a gang) wouldn't be around, for we all came in as newbies one time.
'newbies' are the blood (so to speak) that makes this forum grow. So we need them.
Scaring them away and/or attacking them over posting an already answered question, will show them a behaviour they may very well adopt.

I have nothing against newbies. The thing that realy bother me is the people ho say when a newbie is asking for something that have been discused before instead of just give them the link to the topic and tell them that this have been discused before. A newbie dont know if it have been discused before or not. I dont think someone is interested to search for something when you dont know the specific word you have to use. To be honest the search function on esato is not so werry god. |

@tranquil: i'll PM u about that.I think that the quality of the forum decreased a lot due2a lot of new members but ALSO cuz,except4tranquil
I saw no mod in here.I raised the same ques some 6 months ago but got flamed imedeately so i droped it.I know i am a bit extreme(thats the way i am) but if some1 is2busy2b a mod, simply let some1 else do it.It is fair.We can judge by efficiency if some1 takes care of the forum.Other than that,i love being here daily and reading posts from ppl i 'read' for over a year;-)

OK, back on track: Someone please inlighten me... Newbie... What is a newbie? 10, 20, 50 or 100 posts? Reason I'm asking is basically; there is certain stirers in the +500 club. I must admit I feel a bit like a newbie myself sometimes. Look at some of you guys: working in- developing- and (some) owners in the mobile industry. The answers and topics some of you come come up with make me (think Im in the +1500 club now, not too bothered checking) bow in respect.
Some newbies may actually be more experienced than any of us.

couldn't agree more
And I can't stress enough that postcount / length of time of being a member really doesn't mean that much. Tkaning msyelf for example.... I prolly have a good 1500+ posts (I think??) and have been here for little over 6 months...... I talk a lot.... but I still learn a lot here everyday from ppl that DON'T necessarily talk alot, but KNOW a lot more than me

Thank you. Perhaps nobody could have said this better.
IMHO, Esato is NOT going downhill. It is becoming better. But we can neither expect everyone to know everything nor expect people to follow things by the book. Here in India there are people who don't know how to switch on a cellphone (I've personally witnessed this in a shop where a guy couldn't switch on a Nokia 3310) but you still have to sell them phones. IMHO, the same thing applies here. What is a forum without members and their posts ? Consequently, when members post, some posts are bound to be less than useful.
I'm associated with a cellular operator and provide help to its customers on GPRS/GPRS phone config issues. Whenever testing GPRS or suggesting wap sites, I always suggest/choose Esato (i.e. wap.esato.com). In the last 1 month, I've helped 2 people who instantly recognised Esato (although both were Nokia users and definitely didn't seem the wap/mobile surfing type) and praised Esato. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. My liking for the T68i developed into a liking for in general partly (and I'm talking about a large part here ) because of Esato. |
