Here in Finland childs get their first phone at the age of 7 ... maybe they can´t get new shoes but they have a cellular phone!!! I think you could get a phone contract with your name in order to control the sum of money you´re going to give out. The only problem then is for you to control that she will not spend 20 hours a day in her phone ...

i got my first phone when i was 12 it was a 3210 it cost my dad £160 ,now i am selling it tomy 111 year old brother for £40 as i have come across cheap deals on a 8850 or 8310 or t68
my eleven year old bother and my eight year old bother kept asking my dad for a gameboy advance in december so my dad took them out and bought them one each coming to £300 in total guess what they do not even use them anymore ,
