@lord viper:
"se claim i overcharged the phone"
It is impossible to overcharge the phone unless you will be periodically inserting and removing the charger connector! So go away with this crap, man!

Just a thought, but are you conditioning the battery on the first charge. I can't see anywhere in my (Orange provided) manual that tells you to do so, but the salesman in the Orange Shop I got mine from told me to leave it for 16 hours on the first charge so I did.
My battery life was good to begin with (3 days) and after the first 5 or so charges, has become excellent. I typically get a full working week (5 days) out of mine, and let it sit in the cradle over the weekend. I have the backlight set to time out at 30 seconds, and shut down all unnecessary programs (I found Calculator, of all things, to be a real drain!).
Overcharging shouldn't be an issue as it's a Li-Polymer battery.
Best of luck |

thanks for the tip kowalski.
i must admit on my first p800 i totally ignored the 16hour advice. but not on my second or third. the battery did peak and become exceptionally good, nut then overnight it changed. it died by the time i got to work. at first i though i didnt sit it in the cradle correctly, so i charged it when i got to work. it died by lunchtime. thats when i knew something was wrong.
i tested it over a period of two weeks to make sure and it got worse. se gave me two explanations
1-using the charger. impossible.
2-the batt had reached the end of its life. weird.
seeing as extremely few people have even heard of this problem i think it must just be me and a few others experiencing it. but that still doesnt explain it.
and se customer service is crap. their technicians told me to charge my battery every time i contacted them. |

lord viper,
Sorry to hear about that. I'm quite happy with my own P800.
Have you tried the new SMan program? It ensures that your running applications all get closed when your phone is in flip closed mode, this should improve your battery time.
The technician from SE told you BS. You can charge the battery when ever you want, it does not harm it (in fact, it's usually better than charging only when it's near drained state).
Other than applications, GSM reception and options like GPRS (should be set to GSM only and only connect when you need it), screen saver (disabled, only power saving mode should be used) and BT (should be set to off when not in use) can affect battery time.
If your GSM reception sucks, your battery time will suck because the P800 uses more energy to try and connect to your cellular base. If you are often in locations where there is no reception or nearly none, you might want to turn your phone to airplane mode. |
