I made a PPK - Resurrection ringtone in CoolEdit from an MP3. Everyone who hears it loves it. It got just the right attention-grabbing qualities.

I've heard some wavs from Star Trek The Next Generation like Worf saying "Hailing frequencies open sir" or Data saying "Incoming subspace communication" or Picard saying "shields and deflectors up, go to yellow alert" that are quite good if your're a trekkie (but note: these wav files attract other Star Trek fans like nothing else). The transporter noises are quite good for SMS too.

Also do you remember the movie called Highlander (but not the sequels, I hope) - how about Clancy Brown (the Kurgan) saying "There can be only one" for an SMS. Tacky, maybe.

Heres on for the brits on here!

Ringtone - Jonny Briggs.wav
SMS - sample from Happy Mondays 'Step On'
MMS - Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick Midi snitchet.

Anyone know any reason why mp3's couldn't be used?

For all those who wanted the "master, I have mail for you" tone...

Go to: http://../files/sounds/

Then scroll down to "gotmail2".

Sorry for the delay. Now enjoy

Some ringtone thoughts, NO, I do not currently use these on my phone (T68M).

happytreefriends theme, find at happytreefriends.com, under goodies.

Q-Tip on Beastie Boys "Ill Communication" -- "..phone is ringing, Oh my God!"

Patsy from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, make sure to dub the arrow's flight and impact first, then Patsy's "Message for you, Sir!"

I would recommend the communicator beep or tricoder/lift whistle from Star Trek, and honestly prefer distinctive tones and effects over voice and current pop trax.

I've taken to asking friends what they'd like as their ringtone. They raid their CD collection and find something appropriate or personable to them.

That said I'm working on getting Michael Jackson's - Man in the mirror for a particularly vain friend of mine who is always his checking hair.

One for the adults....
Southpark, Terence and Philip, Uncle f*****. The fart bit in the middle of the song. It's a killer because people can't work out what is happening till I answer the call. But I do change it around with other midi tones.
