@raven
will registered users of active desk receive upgrades for free?
@*
there's a new app called color schemes for the p800, tried it and it looks promising. it provides us with the option of altering the colors of a lot of stuff. im too lazy to tinker with it so if ya guys have a color scheme kindly share it with me.

Just a little remark! ROM = Read Only Memory = You can't write to it!!!

And as for the SonyEricsson can, so we should be able to do it to... Is not that simple.

You would have to make a new modified firmware and burn it to the ROM.. Is it possible ? Yes, there are people that have this hardware and knowedge. Is it likely ? I would say NO.

It IS possible to modify the firmware and to burn it to the FLASH ROM. I have the necessary hardware, software and knowledge. I am not a SonyEricsson employee, nor I work at SonyEricsson servicepoint. The last problem, I am coping with, is to flash the Bluetooth part of the P800 software.

The problem with active desk is that it's too flashy (the background is too cluttered). If it had like 2-3 more subtle color schemes / pictures it might work better.

It doesn't automatically launch itself when you boot the phone, right?

@ oferlaor

Hit the nail on the head. It's just a bit fussy - you can't read the text. I think what we really need is Handy Day with a bit more flexibility for customisation (backgrounds/colour schemes) and a adjustment that doesn't wipe out the battery life.

You should receive the new release in an e-mail from Cibenix. You can just overwrite the old version.

The new version(v2.0) is just released today btw. The changes/improvements are:

Version 2.0 Enhancements:

- Active Desk can be set in Preferences to start when the phone is reset, to be activated when the flip of the phone is opened, and to be launched using the Internet or Camera button.

- Background colour behind Favourites removed so that you see more of the background image

- An Active Desk tools menu has been added to the bottom right of the Favourites row. Click on the wheel icon at the right of the Favourites row and slide across to open a Task Manager, Storage details, and a phone lock for use when the flip is off.

- The Task Manager can also be configured in Preferences to open using the camera or internet button. This is useful to allow you to switch tasks and manage internal memory resources easily. Internal memory / RAM usage is displayed here.

- The Storage details include internal and external data (i.e. memory card) usage

- The Phone lock is designed for flip-off usage of the P800. In this mode, tapping on the screen or moving the jogdial can be quickly locked and unlocked.

- Messages can be displayed at top or at bottom in any view. Change this setting for a specific view in View Settings - Messages.

- Clicking on the time takes you to the time display so that you can quickly change times and set alarms

- Tapping on the screen on the Calendar icon, Tasks icon, and individual messaging icons opens a new entry of this type

- A New Contact option has been added to the Active Desk menu

- A sound can be set to play at start up of the phone.

- 'Only future events' can be set in Calendar so that appointments that are over move off the screen display

Languages: Active Desk is now available in English, US English, French, Italian, Dutch, German, Norwegian , Swedish and Finnish. If you would like to volunteer to translate Active Desk to your native language, email us at support@cibenix.com

I have noticed that there are 2 applictions for the P800 that are very similar.

Handy Day and Active Desk.

Now, can someone tell me what the difference between them is?

Well, I find it very hard to belive.. or maybe I missed something. But will all this talk of changing startup/shutdown mpg's I have yet to find a site which has a dedicated section for these special mpg's. I have seen backgrounds, themes, Gifs, audio files, ringtones, games and apps. I have even seen a vew mp4 videos. But nothing deicated to being actual startup or shutdown files. I dont wanna try using the wrong format mp4 file and hang my phone.. Am I missing something ???
