Yep. definitely spotty 5G service in the US across all carriers, but that's ok for me since I don't rely on mobile data too much anyway. As long as I have 4G LTE, I'm ok with that.
I use ATT in the US and they at least have 2 of the low and mid bands.

There is a site that offers "Buy from Japan". I have bought computer stuff from the site a couple of times.
I tried to send a purchase request. When entering the price it stops: " Please use half-width numeric characters only". Have no clue to proceed. The price is ¥ 234,300

AT&T will flag any unlocked phone right away when you'll insert your sim since it's not approved on their network...
I updated my previous post with some links...
But here it is again

Thanks for the link. Looks like they only approve models that were sold/released in the US. I've seen people have luck getting their unapproved VI working on ATT as long as their prior phone also had physical sim. Worst case, I'm happy to switch providers. Should work fine with Tmobile/Google Fi. I have no loyalty to ATT hah.

It's true, there are some shipper companies that will buy in japan for you and ship it to you. I haven't used any before and didn't come across any that shopped the sony store and ship to the US. I'm also wondering how I will handle the tariff situation. Might be prudent to wait out this tariff nonsense first to save myself some money and/or see if sony will unexpectedly release the VII in the US. That half width character error message is strange. Have you tried changing your keyboard? Using a laptop instead of phone?

The best way to buy stuff in JP is to do it in-person right in the store and get the sales tax back with foreign passport. |

For sure. I wasn't sure if sony store offered tax exceptions for tourists on xperia phones as I said in my post (i.e., the duty free part). Haven't researched too much about it and have never done it myself. But if you can, that will save 10% off the price.
That makes the 16GB/512GB model Y213,00 ($1480 USD).
That would be good for me as it saves money on purchase price and saves money on tariffs.
and just because... unboxing video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtyonOCAzsY

I failed with the purchase request. Tried from some other PC:s with no luck. Even installed a Japanese keyboard.
Then I searched my "buy from Japan" site and the phone was listed. Just got the confirmation mail that they bought my item successfully.
This is what I ordered:

Sucks you were unable to order it yourself but that's great news you were able to get it through your "buy from japan" site. Look forward to your review!

I paid exactly the same price as Sony Japan Store has listed, ¥234,300 and an additional ¥800 for insurance and fee. A total of ¥235,100 = 16,687 SEK.
The pre-order price in Sweden for 1 VII 12GB/256GB is 16,399 SEK. Almost 300 SEK ($30) cheaper than I paid for the 16GB/512GB Japan version.
Ok, WH-1000XM5 is bundled, but I don´t use headphones.

Sell the headphones. You should be able to get a decent price for them |

Totally worth it. Rather get higher specs than 3 year old headphones.

Probably the best comparison so far. They've fixed many things in camera they ruined in VI compared to V. Now with VII they are back on the track. |

This video demonstrated difference of telephoto quality in night time. See the improvement. (10.30 min)
