Reading gsmarena's review, this seems like another failure of a phone from Sony. Sad... |

Umm, no? The XZ2 is very competitive in benchmarks, and tops many of them. Given Sony's history the real world performance should be class leading. The loud speakers are greatly improved over past Xperia flagships and the audio quality through the headphone adapter actually seems to be even better than the XZ1 with its built in headphone jack. The camera is an overall nice step up from past Xperia flagships due to the new processing. Not necessarily class leading, but competitive. Battery life is strong, beating the S9 in the endurance rating by 10 hours. The design, they seem to feel that should be up to the individual to judge for themselves. Plus it's got unique features like the vibration motor.
How in the blue hell do you read that review and deem it to be a failure? |

They praised the display, new speakers, overall performance, rear camera, battery life and the close to stock UI.
Im struggling to see where your point is relevant as in most cases the Z2 out does the S9.

Wow. Guys, we're on esato, there's no need to act like Sony shills.
For me the phone's a failure. The design is ugly - if you put the phone on a flat surface, it spins like a fidget spinner, the camera is not as good as other 2018 flagships, even 2017 flagships. And the most obvious reason - the removal of the headphone jack and their stupid and pathetic pr nightmare of a response yesterday for its removal. A phone as thick should've had a jack, no excuses besides their greed. |

You just don't like Sony phones and come here to complain about a thing that you will not buy.
Are you nervous? |

Get the f**k outta here with that noise

You're free to have your own opinion on the phone. That doesn't mean people who are fine with it are shills. Dolt.
The design is subjective. Some people like it, some don't. This is the same with any product from any manufacturer.

Woopty doo? Obviously that's odd, but it's not a, "holy shit, run for the hills" sorta problem.

The camera is perfectly fine and competitive. It's still got flaws, but it's still good.

It's not an inability to include a headphone jack, it's a design choice. It's the same choice a good many other companies have made such as Google, Apple, Motorolla and HTC amongst others. If you're unhappy with that then so be it, but don't pretend this is a Sony only decision. It's the direction the industry is going in. |

From the time I had with the XZ2 Compact, I can say that the facts are that they have improved many things. You cannot deny that the camera is much improved, as is performance, speakers, screen. The opinion is that it looks worse, fps is too low but this is just an opinion but the facts don't lie about everything else.
The S8 is very pretty yet people complain that the S9 looks too similar but they don't consider that the S9 is still very pretty. How do you please rhese people? I think that GSM Arena and Phone Arena heavily praising the XZ2 is a very good sign, its not a perfect device but its much more appealing to the non-Sony users. Credit to them regardless of my personal preference and I hope this sells well. |

From your previous replies I can sense your hostility. Why the hostility? The design concept was leaked years ago and became fulfilled. If you want to make complaints why not go and design your own phone and submit to Sony themselves for approval? |

Had a play with XZ2 yesterday, and really, it just fits very nicely in hand, even the fingerprint sensor is in the correct place. It is not thick at all due to the curve. On the other hand, XZ2 compact is just crap. Its the small size plus the thickness makes it fugly.
