Well guys lets not criticize Sony here since these devices are Sony Ericsson devices just re branded Sony. We need to wait 6 months to 1 year before we can see whether or not Sony Mobile has learned from the mistakes Sony Ericsson made.
But I sure hope Sony doesn't disappoint.
And about the quad core arguments. Let's end it here. There are going to be only Cortex A9 quad core CPUs this year which are easily defeated by Cortex A15 dual core CPUs.
So I hope the Sony Mint will use a dual core Cortex A15 CPU.
We shall see if Sony launches Cortex A15 quad core phones NEXT year in 2013.
I dont think that is a mistake by SONY...probably its a SONY marketing strategy or something like that. They dont want people to buy a specific model and the other model would be disregard. Ex. if xperia P has a same front camera, same hd screen and battery, etc. do you think people will buy the xperia S? Ofcourse not, thats whay they made different model of phone and put some feature to the phone that the other model doesnt have. So people will be confuse on what their going to buy. Thats strategy by SONY is a F****** stupid... |

Now i got a bit excited over this phone. I found a album on picasa with pictures taken with the Xperia P (lt22i) and they look really really good: https://picasaweb.google.com/j.stueken/Odlingen2012
At least the same quality as the Iphone 4s, which in my book is a good thing. Gone is the oversharpening and artefacts from previous models. |

Thanks for posting that link and yes the camera seems better than the one in Arc/Neo/Ray. The quality seems similar to the Iphone 4S, only with a little bit stronger noise reduction. Xperia P looks like it's gonna be really balanced device, aluminium body, White magic display, good camera. My only concern is the battery, only 1305 mAh

After having used the Xperia S for months and the final version of the Xperia P now for a couple of days, here are my personal findings.
- Size of the P is more handy in most situations than the one of the S
- Haptics of the P is definitely better than the S (mainly due to the aluminum, just feels more classy)
- Screen of the P is reall really bright, the white colors indeed shine more than on the S. Downside of this seems to be that black on the P is not really black compared to the S. It looks somewhat faded on the P, where as on the S it is a deep, saturated black.
- Fast Charge makes a nice difference (possible with both, S and P, however the fast charger only comes with the P). The charger it self is probably almost double in volume compared to the 'old' greenheart charger, so not really ideal for e.g. travelling.
- Can't say too much about the battery life on the P yet, want to run some more charging cycles.
- The speed of the P and the S are definitely on par under every day usage scenarios. Everything is smooth and fast on both devices.
- The illumination of the white LED strip on the bottom of the S is much more even and also much brighter than on the P. However, the three buttons on the P are exactly where the symbols are, so you always hit the button on the first try (even after months of usage, I still don't hit the buttons right at the first try from time to time).
Can't think of anything else right now, maybe some more stuff will be added to the list later.

Nice to hear some thoughts! Im really interested in the white magic screen. Do you think its more marketing than a really good screen? The LG Nova screen (or whatever it was called) comes to mind, they only added more brightness and the screen wasn't anything special really. I hope its good, I had really high hopes for the White magic |

WM screen is strange.
The white is pure white only on 100% brightness.
BUT yellow is orange/greenish! And other color is not true.
It is realy strange and bad thing.
Also voice volume is not so good

I hope it's a software bug or something, it will be really bad for Sony to release a device with display like this

Who on earth use max brithness in dark areas like those photos taken.
On direct sunlight(the mighty yellow one) maybe screen will look perfect where the others might look yellowish.
I think those photos should be taken on direct sunlight where max brightness will be used as well. After than, more realistic comparison could be made IMO.

Interesting video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?[....]=player_embedded&v=QpQr2dmCIUA
In the end he says the image quality of the Xperia P is waaay better than Xperia S and he thinks its because of the STE U8500
"It handles edges and chroma noise much better than the Xperia S does, henceforth preserving fine detail better than the XS does in the final compressed image
VS the XS, the XP also doesn't oversharpen the image, and is also capable of exposing the camera sensor, in low light conditions, up to 11s whereas the other Exmor R mounted Xperia phones I tested don't go beyong 0.5 of a second
While the Xperia S has the upper hand in megapixel count, I'll pick the Xperia P's camera over it anyday really"
