S-E Arc - Ooops! |

Hi!
I suppose I do not understand well enough about dual core and the differences between
Chipset Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon
CPU Dual-core 1.2 GHz Scorpion
and
Chipset Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon
CPU 1.4 GHz Scorpion
Memory on Galaxy S PLus is
Card slot microSD, up to 32GB
Internal 8 GB/16GB storage (market dependent), 512 MB RAM, 2 GB ROM
whereas for Sensation it is
Card slot microSD, up to 32GB, 8 GB included
Internal 1 GB storage, 768 MB RAM
Might well ask my friend which one she likes and then go out and buy myself a sim free handset!

I'd personally go with the HTC sensation.
The extra ram is important and when it gets an upgrade to ICS the chip will come into it's own.
Only potential negative is that the battery on those isn't fantastic. Arc's is much better.
Also the design isn't as pretty as Arc, but neither are the other offerings.
It's more of an upgrade than Arc S would be.

Hi Ricky,
thanks! I have the Galaxy S Plus ordered but I will either give it to my friend or just keep it as a back up. I have been using my S-E W900i as a back up and although stylish, texts etc etc... are not so good.
I will then buy a sim free Android phone but not sure which one yet. I did use a 32 gig card in my Arc so would want a good phone, updatable to ICS and also a slot for a memory card.
So now need to research 'which phone?' or wait till the new S-E Xperia range are released.
Any suggestions?

Apparently for the Sensation there is an extended battery which does not require bigger cover. It's made by Anker and is 1,900mAh and there are many excellent reviews on it.

I would wait for a few more weeks and see what comes at MWC. At the minute Sony only have the xperia s officially announced for outside of America and Japan. I expect there to be more in a few weeks.
If they offer up something better than xperia s then it might be worth waiting, if not then xperia s is definitely a fair option for first half of this year.
Unless of course you don't mind looking at other manufacturers. To be fair though, most companies are producing very similar handsets and the market is fairly crowded with average looking models and same old same old specs. At least Sony offer interesting designs and clear naming.
Just looking through the Samsung and HTC model lists there are countless suffixes to old models and the differences are very difficult to tell from the name. It's all plus this, advance that, XL double with cheese... I really hope Sony don't follow them down that path.
My advice, wait it out and see what's available at the end of the quarter.

Hi Ricky,
with cheese and extra fries
I think I will wait. Might even check out the ZhongGuanCun area in Beijing!
I like the look of the Xperia S but am open to other brands too!

Oh dear well see if your bank does phone insurance as they would pay up with money rather than phone so you can replace with any phone then. That is what I think is right not sure. Sounds like a shoddy insurance job from Vodafone they are not really giving you much for paying the premiums.

That's bad!
And one of the reasons we never get insurance for our phones.

Yes, totally shoddy,,
and the replacement phone didn't have a memory card with it.
oops! Internet search says Galaxy S Plus does not have a memory card included...
Customer services state that not all phones are sold with memory cards.
I'll quit Vodafone later this month, and wait for one of the new S-E phones.

Go with T Mobile I never have issues with them or Three. Maybe get a new deal through Carphone as they have sim free phones & good insurance too in my experience. It's more than insurance with Carphone. I also had a good experience with O2 Insure many years ago. They replaced my phone next day brand new boxed though am unsure if things have changed now

Hi!
sorry to hear you dropped yours too! Hope you can get it repaired...
My Galaxy S Plus is fast and it is ok.
I like the look of the Xperia S but think it has no memory card slot but has 32 gig on board?
Could have got it up to 64 gig if a card slot was included! I'd better go and read that thread thoroughly....
I'll just wait and see what happens in developments from now.
