Where in that link is any of what you said mentioned?!
So far everything concerning Ice Cream Sandwich is rumors! But the mere thing that both Android versions will be merged is a major thing by itself! It's definitely a new Android we're looking at.
Of course new features and optimizations will arrive, but not all of what's been circling around..
Anyway, this thread is about WP! Let's stay on topic. And for comparison purposes, unless there are confirmed official info there is no point in bringing these stuff to this discussion..
Like really?
This is basically bringing the functionality of Honeycomb to your phone, holographic user interface, better multitasking, new launcher and richer widgets. They demonstrated being able to resize a widget on your phone screen, so that you can view more of your gmail for example, from the widget.
And as i metioned other things are already in Android2.3.4, the above ARE NOT rumours, its what Google THEMSELVES announced and demoed, they didnt just announce it, they didi give a bit of detail on it.

I've read all the articles relating to ISC alreay, including the two you posted over here, and I already mentioned that we shall see a new nature of Android devices!!
However, buttonless smartphones, complete dual-core optimization (the current use of dual-core could barely be called any optimization!!!), and complete honeycomb UI on smarphones and other major stuff are all but confirmed!
Google stating better multi-tasking, better widgets, better this better that doesn't mean we'll be getting major changes in every aspect of those!
Google saying ISC being the most optimistic upgrade so far says a lot. But we still need to see the final thing to judge. |

Holographic UI is the Honeycomb UI, so that has been confirmed, along with the HC type taskbar, widgets with resizing and launcher.
Buttonless phones, yes, those haven't been confirmed but is a strong possibility as they are trying to reduce fragmentation, and it would make sense as it would mean being able to use your Android phone in landscape or portrait and the UI buttons will follow just like in the HC tablets as they dont have physical buttons either.
Dual-core optimization will come to the phones as its part of Honeycomb, in 2.3.4 it is partialy there as i said before, but in ICS it will use the 2nd core as HC brings that in, no matter what you think of it, the 2nd core will be used in ICS dual-core phones as it is in HC.

All that might be great but what was this topic's name?
I've been a feature phone for ages, never liked Symbian and have my doubts about Android. I'm trying to learn more of 7mango. Would it be as easy as my Mac?

Never used a Mac either, but WP7 sure is easy to use, you'd need Zune on your computer for file transfer though, is there a version for a Mac?
You could walk into a MediaMarkt or Saturn, where they have real phones on display, no dummies, to have a play with a WP7 phone.

Thanks Marly i'll try there. (Though I hate those stores)
I've read somewhere (where?) that Mango would be compatible with Mac.
iPhone5 hmm is an option. Maybe a cheap phone plus an iPad.
I just got lost I think

I know the confusing array of choices in the mobile world now can be daunting when you are yet to enter the smartphone world. Sometimes I miss the old & when I first tried Android(LG Optimus) I was like WHAT THE HELL this is confusing. But now I am not the biggest Android fan anymore. I really liked WP7 when trying it out. The iphone is great but too limited in things you can do,you decide.

Don't like both of them either , but you can play with several phones there, whereas shops like The Phone House only have dummies on display.
KPN-, Vodafone- and T-Mobile-shops usually also have "real" phones, but only the types they sell.
Now this is off-topic aswell, so to get on-topic again, HTC 7 Trophy:

Oh wow, just saw another thing, where's the signal indicator? Just saw video on GSMarena, wow there's signal only in one tab(telephone), and no info about type of network (EDGE, 3G, HSDPA or WiFi) in internet explorer. If that's the wonderful UX, then I feel sorry for Nokia |

Well actually the signal indicator is on the screen lock as well so your wrong and I have a HTC Trophy 7 and absolutely love it definitely right at the top of the list of my favourite smartphones and i've owned many from iphone's to Nokia's to Samsung's,HTC's and lots of others.
I'm loving Windows Phone 7 more and more everyday so don't knock it until you actually use it properly. |

Wherever you are in the UI (in exception for games), you can touch the top of the screen and all the info you'd need will pop up in that tiny bar..
I think you should stop trolling already!!
@Tsepz
WP Mango will be released this month as it seems, and ICS next month.. Let's just wait for final releases and compare them then. It's pointless to go on with such a discussion at the moment! |

Ok, thanks for clarification, this sounds ok.

That didn't seem like asking to me! Let's call it LOLing around..
Anyway, let's just keep the thread on topic..
WP is not yet the perfect solution.. Some things are still missing in Mango.. The potential is there though and the approach is definitely the right one!
Competition is good for everybody.. Everyone is free to choose whatever he finds suits his needs better..
The way I see it, it's none but us, consumers, who are the biggest winners here..
