No the battery cover does not squeak it just does not fit snugly and when you are holding the phone you can feel it move. There is quite a bit of movement. Overall its solid just I had a bad one and I do love the phone. I am not exchanging for something else. Only got it Saturday the slide is actually pretty solid but with a little movement on one side. The battery cover actually hardly even clicks down into place properly I just hope the next one is better. Just ordered a hard wearing polycarbonate cover online for it from Mobile Fun plus a screen protector.

Ooooo last time I put one of those cases on a slider phone (S500) it caused quite a few scratches getting the rear section on and damaged the slider mech when I tried removing the part covering the top section. Made the slide wobbly.
The Martin Field screen protectors are quite good as are the Expert Shield ones. The missus has just bought me an Invisible Shield full body kit for my C9051 first time i've had one so gotta be careful fitting it. She bought it cos of the colour of my C905 being the gold/bronze colour so it's fully protected against scratches. I believe one has just been done for the W995 as well. Only distributer in the UK is CPW but they've put quite a big markup on the price. We got ours from First2Save on Ebay which were just 1 more than getting them from Invisable Shield themselves. Gonna attempt to mine tomorrow.
Hope you manage to get a replacement matey. Would like a red one myself but my next phone purchase will be the Satio but not until March next year.

Well yes I should get a replacement as its less than one week old and I am in a new contract. If they dare say I did it myself I will go ape though they cant prove otherwise. The invisible shields look cool never seen one properly yet. I would certainly never attempt to take my phone apart or repair it not confident. I would love a Satio but not yet I want to see how it pans out with bugs and reliability first few months. I generally dont normally buy a phone when its first on the shelves best to wait first. Though sometime soon dont know when I am still yet to recieve 10,000 from my uncle in Ireland. He left everything to me my brothers and cousins which means I will treat myself to one ultimate phone Just gotta wait till his house is sold over there.

the hard plastic protectors are good up to a point but the rough finish inside along with dirt and dust collected between them and the phone tend to scratch and rub the painta away.

if you got the phone from a shop then check the slider action and only take one you think is good.

My Nokia 5530 whilst it is a lovely phone with a fantastic UI & screen amoung other things all it did in the end was crash on me. But I may add that its early software but I could not be arsed to put up with it so I returned it to exchange back to my old C510 but at the same time I was offered a contract. So I took the advantage & got a spanking lovely W995. Anyway more trouble. After checking the slider in the shop I got it home & found it to be suddenly worse again after an hours use. The slide was worse than before although not broken it rattled when I used the D pad. I was fecking fuming Anyway I went back to a different Carphone store & their ones were fine very solid & its been fine since. But I am sorry lovely as the phone is I am disgusted with for building a premium product with shoddy build right outta the box. I had an argument with the guy in the shop till I got another exchange saying that such products that expensive AND with me signing an 18 month contract I will not accept what he says that they are all supposed to be like that With a phone that expensive I am sorry it should be solid right out of the box though I understand it can losen with time but not brand new. Its a fantastic phone & I am now satisfied but I dont put up with shoddy crap like that & some idiot in the CPWH telling me thinking I am some thicko that all sliders are meant to rattle & wobble that bad out of the box. When I was holding the first replacement I could actually feel the slide moving when I was hardly doing anything on it. Simply not acceptable & need to address this build issue on such high end products. End of rant. Happy now though Till next time.................................................... But you can see my point when I get a new expensive phone like that & the slide actually rattled

@Bonovox: Could you post the manufacturing date on your new W995? (the label under the battery, it should look something like 09W28)... thanks!
I can't believe this build quality issue is happening once again, i thought SE had enough with the recent problems they faced with some models like W580, S500, W910, C905 et al... Hope this time is just a few units at most....

Sorry for late reply I was uploading some music. Mine is wk37/09 it says. I am definately not exaggerating things I really was annoyed. If I shook the phone just ever so lightly it would rattle the slider & when using the D pad it was so annoying because it actually felt like it was just going to fall apart. Its not good enough much as I love & this phone its infuriating. Though so far zero software issues just the build. The battery door is also better on the latest replacement.
