I took some videos today using my G705 with W705 firmware. The videos aren't bad, but it seems that there's a fair bit of what you would call video noise. The FPS was definitely good since I didn't experience any video stuttering that I used to get with the old drivers. I'll post up the video once YouTube accepts my upload, but first, is there a way to fix the noise or take better videos with Brazuka's custom camdriver?

video looks good.. what are you using for the sensor's frequency.. 6590?
the level of noise you're seeing is just how it will be to be honest.. if you shoot a video in daylight, you won't see noise.. but even a well-lit indoors video will have some noise in it.. just a property of the aperture size and quality of the sensor.
just curious.. why are you using W705 firmware when recent unbranded W715 firmware is available? no need to lose GPS for no reason..

Sensor frequency? I didn't change anything besides replacing the stock driver with the Brazukka ones. I want to tweak them by changing some stuff in the .dat file so there's a higher amount of FPS and better video and picture quality, but I'm too scared.
I'm not sure if I get noise when I'm outside and in a well-lit indoor place, but I get a bit of noise when I'm taking pictures. See the previous page, I believe there was a bit of noise in those pics.
I'm using the W705 instead of W715 because I don't need GPS (student), and I want to use the GENERIC/HK firmware so that Chinese words will show up properly for my songs. I hate it when there's squares and random characters for the file names.

I noticed that colors and noise were not so good after I had flashed my G705 to a W715. Brazuka's W715 drivers didn't help much either, so I then loaded Brazzuka's G705 camera drivers, and it made the quality much better.. which makes sense, since the actual physical camera module on the phone is that of a G705 regardless of whichever firmware we have crossflashed to. Are you using the G705 drivers?
as for Chinese.. why don't you just take the chinese language and t9 files from the W705 filesystem and use them with the W715? I've done that with a few languages and it works perfectly fine. Even if you don't think you need GPS for directions etc. it can be handy with Google Maps, or with geotagging your pictures.

Nope, I'm using the W705 camera driver that Brazukka made. I could always try the G705 driver next and hope that it's better.
I don't have a data plan or WAP connection, so it wouldn't do me much good. I wouldn't be storing the maps on my phone card either since it's all used to store music.
So how do I check this sensor frequency you talked about? Should I change the .dat file to get higher FPS and better camera quality while keeping the camera module alive? I don't wanna kill the camera, which I read in the .dat file that you can.

yes, the sensor frequency is set in this line:
cam_vf_clock_freq=9,55F0;
you'll see in the comments that you can safely set the frequency a bit higher to 6590 (hex for 26000 e.g. 26Hz/26fps)
and yes, of course a bad driver could potentially mess up your phone but I don't think it's going to blow up or anything, hehe. As long as you don't do something totally outrageous you should be fine. I did really wacky things with my W810's camera and at times the viewfinder display was messed up or the phone would lock up, but it wasn't ever "damaged.
remember, flashing your phone or using a2uploader could cause damage to your phone also.. so you have to keep it in perspective.

the right location is ifs/settings/camera .. for sure the biggest difference you'll be able to notice on the phone itself is the video fps will be higher.
btw guys something I discovered.. if you use the version of the driver with the 352x288 video resolution, the phone will not let you send it in an MMS or edit it in VideoDJ.. I guess because it is confused by the increased resolution. just something to keep in mind in case you will be wanting to edit or send your clips.
you can, however, still upload to youtube if you have one of the phones with the youtube client with uploading feature (g705, w715, etc).

How can we increase the sharpness in this driver? or is it not possible? What about the video bitrate? |
