Theres no doubt that SE killed the best smart phone OS IMO...i have used my friend's iphone,s60 nokias, linux motos and what not...but UIQ was the best i found.
P990 was a very good phone even with crippled hardware(CPU) ,but SE stopped software support for it and drove away a lot of P series fans. I have learnt to live with it..but am not happy with it.
I was thinking of buying the next uiq4 smartphone from SE...?? hikaru (paris was crap) , but the announcement of symbian foundation changed my ideas.. why buy a OS which is dying...software developers wont have much interest in it..but am sure SE will put the best hardware to sweeten the deal.
Also SE's faith in HTC with X1 makes me look at HTC's own phones, also G1 which seems very promising...but i will wait for android to mature.
RIP UIQ i will miss it. |

The right move IMO. Move onto a OS that people like using i.e S60

UIQ was all SE. Moto might have a couple of them as well, but i can sell more home made lemonade than the amount they sold Z10

Sony Ericsson made 10 UIQ based phone, Motorola made 6 and they jumped in to the UIQ business about the same time.
Sadly I don't know that much about the lemonade business, but good luck.

As your signature said, you already switched to S60, I hope you are pretty happy with that and your platform will improve a lot because Sony Ericsson dropped UIQ.
Btw Z10 has a much better CPU than the SE smart phones, so lets see, maybe Motorola has some new ideas for Z11. Touchscreen and more ram could be enough to show something better than Nokia did with its iTube
iTube, thats realy cute, and the fact that you think Motorola are going to make some great UIQ phone LOL! talk about comedy central lol!
Motorola have better things to do like work on their Android phone and their WM devices, you know, Platforms that ACTUALY SELL AND ATTRACT CUSTOMERS something they NEED right now and i doubt UIQ will do them any good, their Z8 was a terribly buggy device that FLOPPED BIG TIME and their Z10. . . .well it may have a better CPU but whats the point of having a great CPU if its limited by low ram, an OS with hardly any apps and low batt life? Lol, dont put your hopes too high on MOTO with UIQ or you'll be greatly disappointed.

UIQ on the P990 was a step back from the usability of the P910 in my opinion. They should have built on that interface with the 5 way jog-dial and far better 1 hand operation.
Now have a W960i and haven't seen anything to tempt me away from it yet. Will be keeping an eye out on Apples 3rd iPhone when it shows next year hopefully. May even look into Windows devices again.
Tried the iPod Touch & really liked the web-browsing on that over WiFi plus the Music side of things, but not convinced with the iPhone being a good phone/PDA replacement yet.

i really hope that sony ericsson will transform there new TS UI into some thing that people will appreciate....
idk maybe one of there employee saw some aweful true facts posted on the internet about there uiq devices and made a huge decision in dumping uiq. and go symbian
or maybe there were cooking up the thought since they had problems with p990
i really dont care which way they go as long as the new products are reliable and steady less bugs a lil more advance in there hd structure....
i must say some time people fuss about things too much....not every one finds these slow devices annoying as some of you people....

I think UIQ3 is an outstanding os but if se ends up moving to the android os I think it will be an excellent move. |

i have had my share of uiq phones and s60 phones, they do have both their pros and cons. im quite shocked that se left uiq, i was really hoping or expecting their uiq 3.3, im wondering what would happen to us uiq users? i just recently bought a g900 and im now thinking if they would still be releasing some fw update. so what should we do know that uiq is dead with our uiq phones? switch phone makers? |

If you want a good MOTO get their Linux devices, not UIQ.
