...When SE will make a phone remotely close to Nokia's N96 and the battery lasts longer than Nokia, then you might have right to knock on these great do-it-all devices and how bad their battery is. Right now you just blowing hot air out of you know what ... Comparing a fully loaded smartphone to a simple Java A200 one and boasting it's battery lasts longer ... tsk tsk
As much as your points about battery standby times are valid JiSm, Dextrr is spot on the above statement.
One important fact is that SE's portfolio is lacking. Look at their high end versus the low end and you can see that they are shockingly unbalanced. I know they said they will be concentrating on the low end sector which is supposed to help them with sales and market share, but what they forget is that the higher and high end models of the company actually have a positive spin off on the rest of the portfolio.
How does SE justify not having a device that matches- note I'm saying MATCH and not even beat- the N95 after two years? This is really sad and pathetic for a company that made a name for itself by humiliating the very Nokia that is now ahead of it. I can still remember when we used to look forward to SE'S announcements because we knew there'd be something special. Sadly those days are gone.
With the the Xperia line SE should have at least 5 smartphones in the market, not just simple smartphones like the G series which is nothing more than SE trying to get rid of their old technology lying around. The W950/960 series is a good idea and should continue then add your P series which should be the flagship (I wonder if SE still knows what the meaning of flagship is anymore) competing directly with the N96, then the well equipped G series to complete the smartphone portfolio.
Nokia will keep on destroying SE as long as things stay the same over at SE. It seems SE knows how to srew things up better than to fix. We thought they were over the P990i fiasco then they gave us the K850i, wonder what's next- the next P or C905?
They're busy losing their hard earned market share, they have a non existent marketing department and they don't seem to know what they are doing. Great recipe for total disaster!
I wouldn't want this once great company to go under because they have a lot to offer and they are certainly better than Samsung and LG. I do believe they are on par with Nokia in technological terms but need to sort themselves out soon. They are really looking like Motorola during the beginning of their downfall and that is not good for the market at all.
It is tragic enough that Motorola are in trouble but it would be disastrous to lose two of the top 5 players in the mobile phone market. |

Agreed, I really hope SE can pull out of this spin. However, it's not going to be easy and quick and with UIQ gone and S60 in charge they certainly need to have something over the competition which requires a miracle by itself since, as mentioned, SE can't even match its competitors' 2 year old technology.
I wonder if they remember what the "P" series symbolizes?

True, this one's going to be long and painful but, and given their capability, they can do it. As for the P series, I still can't believe what they've done to the masterpiece that was the Ericsson R380s. I know I'm dreaming but I would love the same P900/910i design modernised to fit the current times and given blockbuster specs.
Can you imagine what a 3 inch screen, 15 cm, 5mp, HSDPA/HSUPA, VGA 120 fps recording/playback, fully loaded P6 would be to us and SE?

Well, lucky its just my opinion and unless Nokia (Or any manufacturer for that matter) can give me a phone where I dont have to carry a spare battery around in my pocket (Along with an already ENORMOUS N95 or such) then I will consider them. Until this time, no way.
BTW, I use a W960 (Yes Smartphone, not Piddly A200) and I get 3 days easy. Wifi, Camera, Bluetooth on all day connected to my watch, 3G enabled and 3 days standby. Hmmmm. For Me, there is only SE.

I guess the reason we are all flaming is because of our yearning for the times we had with the P900/910. What SE doesn't realize is that at that time they had such a wonderful product that they could get away with their arrogance and disregard for customer opinion. When you don't have such a product anymore people have no reason to tolerate you.

i agree, unlike the past time, im always wait for SE new products announcement, coz everytime SE announce new products there is something new with them, always had an innovation. I really hate SE works 2 years before, nothing really satisfied me anymore, except Xperia |
