I've tried all these too (except Zone Alarm) still no luck. Also tried turn on the debug and saw a number of 'ERROR' but can't understand the debug log.

@Cunning Man, and others...

Any luck yet? Please post here if you guys found anything.

Float,

I actually did try installing ZoneAlarm a couple of nights ago... No luck there either. The synchronization process still gets stuck at the "Synchronisation in progress" window.

I have given up trying on my current system.

My suspicion, again, is that the problem is potentially due to incompatibilities with certain MS Windows/Outlook/hardware configurations. As mentioned in an earlier post, I've already tried clean re-installs of both Windows (2000/XP) and Outlook and the PC Suite software etc. The only variable I have not yet fiddled around with is Hardware. I will hopefully be able to borrow/buy a new PC in the next few weeks to try out this theory.

Maybe if I'm lucky, Sony Ericsson will post a software patch of some kind in the meantime. Frankly I'm more than a little disappointed by the customer support experience to date on this issue - 3 emails over about 3 weeks, and no response so far. I guess the chaps over at SE don't subscribe to the Chasm theory of consumer marketing - that the key to success of any new technology product is to coddle your early adopters, as they would typically act as free evangelists to other early adopters as well as the more conservative buyers they know... Obviously I realize it would take time to come up with fixes, but all they needed to do would have been to acknowledge the problems various buyers have had - maybe they think that doing so would hurt sales - not realizing that this silence is even more hurtful in the long-term.

Whoops. Apologies for that rant. It's been a quiet day at the office.

Best,

C

I will tomorrow post a message that will help you instaling the software.

I donī't have the message here at work.

You have to change a file in windows in order to install the software.

I sympathise. I am having problems too.

My config is Outlook 2002/Exhange 5.5/Win2k SP3. I can sync but the process is: Start sync>Allow Access to Outlook (any time limit - makes no difference)>Wait Atleast 10 minutes>Allow Access Again> Then finally it moves to analysing and usually only take a minute or two to sync. This might not sound too bad but a) if you use the pc in the 10 minutes wait it takes even longer b) if you miss the second request it doesn't sync.

I have tried all the tips on this thread - loads of un-installs and reg' cleaning to no avail. I've tried syncing late at night to see if it was a network speed issue but to no luck.

SE Customer Support (UK) have been dreadful, 2 standard replies not answering my issues and the third about a syncing a T68i (even tho' the email had reference below to P800!) When I called in they basically said there's nothing that they could do - so tough! No escalation offer, zip!

After several PDA's syncing with no problems, this is the worst syncing software I've ever used. If anyone has any more ideas please let us know as we are probably going to have to sort this one out ourselves.

Tim

It happened to me. What I did was to go to Control Panel, Performance & Maintenance, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Ports then delete the line that has the USB DC cradle (something) and then reboot and let WinXP install USB driver again. I hope it will work for you too.

Someone mentioned in anothe thread that there is a new PC Suite version out - can anyone confirm this, and if so, has anyone who previously had synchronization problems been able to test it to see if there is a difference?

BTW, just sent my 4th email to SE support. Still no real reply. Sigh.

Outlook XP doesn't allow 3rd party programs to access any content without explicit confirmation of the user. Maybe some of you know this problem when trying to sync with your Palm handhelds. There's an applications which tells Outlook to accept the sync for every darn element.

So now the time delay is fixed, the next problem is syncing categories. Anyone got any tips. I've tried adding/changing (different ones) on each device and they just dont sync. Particularly want To Do categories.

Cunning Man and Others,
For the last 2 weeks or so I have been having exactly the same problems as Cunning Man.

Now I'm happy to say that things have been solved.

Originally I had Outlook 98 running on winMe. I replaced Outlook with the latest XP version. However that did not actually solve the problem.

Last night I downloaded the new Version of the P800 software and installed it directly over the previous version. No uninstall.

Now everything seems to be working fine. Connection is also much faster now.

I hope that this signals an end to everyone troubles!! Now the P800 is truly an amazing
phone.

All the best,

Paddy
