Was taken while the coach was moving in the dark, excuse the grain/bluryness & the reflection:

My first shot at it btw.

All the ones I've tried, even photos with perfect lighting and no shake come out bad on photomatix.. why's it like this?

this is a really old thread but I thought I'd resurrect it to get those pros back out here

I'm planning on buying a Nikon D90 (for a small magazine I'm starting and for my website)

I want to take some high colour (contrast) photos and also some low noise night shots.

Could someone give me tips or even a website on how to take awesome photos that make things look 'wow' colour wise etc...

I'm guessing all your photos were not touched up? Or were they?

Depending on location and time et. Master "Fill-In Flash" to start, and not the built in flash. Have an external unit.

That will help with colours

Oooh i'm very interested in this thread. I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ5 with UV & Circular Polarizing filters and a tripod. Its nothing like a Canon or Nikon but I've had some wicked shots out of it. I'll post a few....

These are before I got the filters, not had chance to go out and play yet...

Top two were taken in St.Annes and bottom two were taken in Scotland

@amnesia
You should take a look at the tutorials at Luminous Landscape The web site might not look 2009ish, but the content is absolutely valid.
