Erm... can't.
If I go to Vodafone Live! on desktop, it wants to connect. I also can't edit the homepage in Connections. Or I'm just blind. |

I mean the Vodafone Live! icon on the 12 icon desktop. It should be here:

Reeeally? They must have changed it, and not for the better! That sucks man. Definitely go with the K630i firmware then!
It used to be like how you said when I had a Z600, so you had to go onto Vodafone Live! before you could navigate away to other pages. While this didn't cost anything as browsing Vodafone Live! is free, its just an unnecessary step to have to take, and a huge inconvenience.
It was changed on my last few phones (V630i and W910i) so that you could go straight to your bookmarks or enter an address, which is heaps better. I don't know why they have downgraded it for the V640i which is a NEWER model!

On free firmware now, K630i R1EA030. Worth the 12€... but now no flash themes for me. |

Hey congratulations on the new phone!
I tried opening the Vodafone Live! menu from the desktop and it opens without connecting. I can also add 'Enter Web Address' to the Toolbar shortcuts or the Standby screen shortcuts ( ^ V > < arrows).
I can also change the Homepage:
Open the browser (go to Vodafone Live!)
Options > Advanced > Connectivity Tab > Homepage > change the homepage details

Strange that mine showed different behaviour. Well, Davinci told it some manners.
Some more pics from my German review:

This looks like my next upgrade. Currently using my k610 with w660 firmware. Played with my k608 the other day and was shocked at the screen difference. At current price point i can either get a v640 or k800. K800 back too bulky and v640 comes with free speakers. |

No free speakers with my V640i. The speakers pictured in my review came with my old V630i.
The V640i can't match K800i in camera features such as Xenon Flash, Best Pic, etc but trounces it in style, UI and 3G speed. Camera quality is 'good enough' and you'll be blown away by A200 believe me. I just love the new Media player and Camera UI - it's worth the price of admission on it's own IMO.

I'm gonna send my V640i to the service centre for repair.
The earpiece sound is distorting badly during calls, and for some reason it won't stay connected to the internet. It drops the connection within a minute using either USB cable or BT but V800 connects fine.
I suspect both issues are firmware related but we'll see.

@carkitter: Man, thats gotta piss you off. I always find it so annoying to get phones repaired in NZ. Maybe its easier in Auckland, but still it sucks. At least you have your V800i to tide you over eh?

Not sure if im right but i think i seen a Havana SonyEricsson W880i and the menus Vodafone put in it were like gold and black not the usual rubbish red white and grey poorly drawn icons we all come to know and HATE. Someone tell me if its true and does this phone have that menu too. If so it would look better. Dont like the screen resolution though. |
