I'm pulling my hair out as well over connecting to my home network. I use a Netgear router and only had occassional problems connecting my P1 but had almost continuous problems with lost connections on my Sony Vaio. Yesterday, I updated the firmware of the router and suddenly, my P1 and Fujitsu Siemens N560 (pda) can no longer connect but my Vaio is fine!! It must be something to do with WPA security as there is no problem when I switch off the security of the network. I am curious what the difference is between WPA Personal and WPA Enterprise in the settings of the P1. There is no such choice when setting up my Netgear.
Hopefully someone can give me a useful tip before I give up with the Netgear and buy something else. I have a hunch that causes most of the problems. |

relax chill.. its just a gadget.. anyways try this i guess this should be the solution...
open ur pc/laptop and log in for the internet (for many isp there's no login) connect inernet with your pc/laptop through router.
then search from your p1 and connect ... hope it works..

I have a DG834GT using WPA-PSK. I went and bought a Belkin G+ MIMO router from PC World this evening but haven't opened it yet so can still return it. |

My Linksys router works fine (the blue plastic one with two aerials)! I have mine working with WEP security. |

For me, relaxing and chilling don't go with wifi!! They are about the most unreliable devices I know and worse still, I don't really understand how it all works - I just muddle through. Hence, I'm afraid I don't understand your instructions. Could you please elaborate slightly for the ignorant?! My problem devices are currently my P1 and N560 which are obviously not PCs so does your suggestion apply? Sorry if I've missed the point altogether. |

Delete all wifi accounts from your P1i. Enable wifi on the P1i. Scan for networks, do you see yours? If so, click to join the network. Enter your security key when prompted. Then go to the advanced menu and turn power saving off. Open your web browser - you should now be connected. |

I had to force TKIP for it to work. Try that.
Same thing here, it didn't work with WPA and AES so I had to switch to WPA and TKIP... I reported at SE nearly a month ago still not solved. |

Thought I would let you all know that I have just set up my new Belkin G+ MIMO router and immediately my P1 and pda connected without any problems. So my hunch that it was the Netgear was correct. Long may this last so that I can chill out again....... : ) |

I have had the same problem.
Goto Wireless ans scan, automatically resets.
Spoke to O2, they asked me to speak to SE.
Spoke to an SE engineer, this problem has been reported on CDA version: R7A! This is not only O2 devices but Orange as well.
Recommended solution: Get O2 to replace the phone. (Waiting for RMA)
SE need urgently to sort this problem out, I can't go round and ask people to change their security connections - Bad software!

Basically for those of you who want to use the P1i against a WPA-PSK setup with a hidden SSID - you can't.
I've tried every configuration and it basically refuses to connect when you hide the SSID on that setup.
This pretty much rules out most secure networks. |

You should be able to see the WEP key by logging in to the control panel of your wireless router. Usually it will be under 'Security'.
Which router do you use? On a Belkin you would definitely be able to find the WEP key.

No problem with Linksys either, oh and the WEP key is easily displayed. I don't understand the problem with this WLAN business, like you can log-onto networks whilst you're out and about anyway, on any device? They're always secure! |

Leaving out the most obvious things as configuring a free compatible channel to be used for the AP my findings are that except for the TKIP setting when using WPA i believe that the most common error is that the Accesspoint (or Router) is set to use 802.11G ONLY...
Change that setting to use both 802.11B and 802.11G and it should work again.
And yes there are some rare cases of worse trouble with accesspoints that needed a software update and a total reconfiguration to work.
(The owners had made numerous WLAN setting changes that they thought would be an improvement without knowing what they were doing...., thus making the AP incompatible with some other devices..)
+ IF you do a update make sure to use the software for your region..
(AND please try to keep within channels 1 to 11 there are many devices that cannot use channel 12 to 13.. if that is selectable on your AP )
