Actually uninstalling Exchange Activesync restores the PC synchronization, have tried it both on the P990 and the P1; did not have to resort to a reset.
IMAP did not work for me and also there is no way to define the parameters of the Exchange server in the setup for the IMAP accounts.
We are talking here about things that are supported directly. There is indeed a way to get email only. First time Exchange Activesync is run, simply kill the task after you have defined the server. This adds Activesync to the messaging application, to the today structure on the standby, and does not disable PC synhronization. However this is a fluke which may or may not work on some phones and certainly may not work with a future firmware.
What is required is to give the user the option to select what is to be synchornized same as in other platforms. With the workaround that I have mentioned above Activesync seems to work very nicely.
Edit: Works nicely with emails that is, Have not tried other things.

I donīt know if itīs a bug really, but itīs damn annoying.
When a delivery report comes, the phone playes the message tune, this makes me think I have a new message. In SEīs non-UIQ phones they have a different sound for the delivery reports. This must be possible in UIQ. |

Anybody having problems with installing swiss manager? It says that the certificate has expired. I know on Nokia phones, you can turn off the security check. Can you do this on the P1???? |

I'm running DataViz ActiveSync as well and there are options to specify what to sync under Configuration. I haven't installed the PC Sync software, will try soon...
For my case, BB was pre-installed instead, I had to uninstall that before I can Install the file eas.sis in my phone memory. |

i had the same on the p990 just change the date on you phone prior to the certificate date install, then change the date back |

Is the lack of autofocus bug in video mode that's present in P990 also present in P1? Some may say you don't need autofocus for video because there's no fixed object while you shoot your video around, but believe me it makes a world of difference with the autofocus where the video of the object you're capturing is so much sharper and the contrast is so much better. Anyone? |

It's not just you, rest easy  In fact, it also occurs on the P990...
Unfortunately proving my point that the P1 has inherited all the existing P990 bugs 
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace  So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

So far I didn't see that proof at all. It's funny how people now just wait to hear and see something bad about P1. |

If P1i realy has most if not all P990 bugs then i think SE have just TOTALY KILLED their last chance with most of their UIQ users,but then again its still very new,lets hope the 1st FW update gets rid of most of these bugs

how come my p990i doesnt crash when i do this too? . . . that's so sad to hear . i was hoping p1 would be bug free ..like the p910i.

Yes I hope firmware fixes the problems I'm having, which is having connection problems with internet and fixing some of the camera overexposure issues. Other than that, the phone is great. Again I said it before, but a 330mhz processor would have made this phone just that much better. The extra RAM is owesome! |
