Bottom line is, in my eyes, that if your not going to use most of the features most of the time, then there are better, cheaper phones out there that focus on one or several of the things you want to use it for.

Jack of all trades, master of none Thats what I always tell customers to put them off it (due to lack of stock), we have old guys and young teenagers with their mum's come in, all looking for it cause it's the 'newest coolest phone to have' even tho they look at you and say "Wi-What?.....What-Fi?" lol.

A lot of people back up the n95 on here but most i see dont even have an n95 so they cant make those claims. I have had one and that it my personal opinions.

For someone who claim to own a N95 and yet cannot even get the facts right (like N95 screen is 16m colors) about N95 but still have the face to go around accusing "most" of making false claim of owning one.

I was being sarcastic. How would one see a screen and know its 16mil colours?

The human eye doesnt differentiate much between 262k and 16Mil colours.

If it were VGA screen instead of QVGA or had the resolution of the N80 screen then that would be something else. But on the whole 16m colours isnt that big a deal.

mmm... actually it does. The reason 16 million colours is called "true colour" (24bit), is for the very reason that the human eye can distinguish between 16.7 million different shades of colour within the visible light spectrum.

I can certainly tell the difference between 65000 colours (16bit) and 16.7 million on a computer screen, and I fully expect to be able to tell the difference between 262000 and 16mil (though I've yet to see an N95 side by side with an N93).

Hi Max,

That's not actually a great example as i had tested my N93 against the N95 screen well actually on 4 altogether and with both set on 50% brightness using similar themes the N93's screen although not 16m colours was actually sharper and clearer and just looked better.

Although the E61's screen against the N93 the E61 was better, it has been suggested to me this is partially due to the fact that both the N93 and E61 have hard covers on the screens.

Marc

Dogman, I agree that more colours doesn't necessarily look better, I just meant it would be easy enough to tell the finer graduations (due to more colours)

A bright well backlit screen will always look better than a higer resolution higher colour poorly backlit screen. There are also questions of contrast and brightness, and the material used as you say.

like max said, shaper is not due to color. N93 is smaller than N95 so it should be sharper. More colors give a better representation of photo/video.

But how good is the difference? I used the N95 the whole weekend and never noticed much, and I did investigate the screen against different things and only on Monday did I read here on Esato that it was a 16 mill colour screen.

n93 is a cz fone, so nokia focused really hard imo on the csreen, probably that makes it feel and look better. just look at 6131. it has 16m screen but crap resolution, so it looks the same as 6233 with 262k screen.
