my main beef with all in one is that if something goes wrong, you're SOL until you get it replaced/fixed!
I don't think a phone will replace my ipod anytime soon since it's a 2nd Generation ipod with upgraded battery that gives me 30+ hours of playback.. I charge it one a week and it handles all of my commutte.
I got a lifedrive (big mistake) hoping that it could replace my laptop and use it to watch movies on the road but I have to send it in for repairs every 3 months or so..
If it was ll in one, I'd be stuck with backups of everything.

not necessarily. If you have a backup multi-media phone then it's okay

But iTunes itself is amazingly powerful and easy to use. No one can deny that.

I surely can, but I don't want this to turn into a iTunes thread.

It's been weeks since I ditched my iPod and have come to rely solely upon my W810. This works well, well enough that I even bought a SIM-free W300 as a backup device

Really, I only miss three things from my iPod:

  1. I can't copy my iTunes playlists onto my phones. Everytime I change the music on the phone's memory card, I have to manually recreate the playlists (on the phone, there's no external way to do this).
  2. No way to control a phone from my car stereo. Car manufacturers, VW included (I have a 4th-gen Golf GTI and a New Beetle), offer factory iPod integration that provides power, sound, and control over a single wire. Aftermarket radios have had this for years.
  3. Using headphones with an HPM-70 or HPM-82 makes for a tangled mess of wires. The iPod had its own 3.5mm stereo minijack.

(Give me a W810 with QVGA, 3G, GPS, and iTunes integration, and I would have the perfect all-in-one device )

I got a W810 and P990, however I feel the the magebass on the P990 is really lame, its overall music quality is good, but megabass is really lame, especially after I modded my W810 with Toshura's acoustic drivers, the sound quality and megabass is much much better. Also, I hardly even use more than 2gigs for my songs, if I have more than that, i find myself putting boring songs on it, so its no use, and I don't know about you guys, but i'm addicted to bass, so until apple comes out with something better than sony's bass, I aint switching
