In my case, the entire process took three hours. But the improvement in speed is really worth the wait. I'm testing everything at the moment. |

Phew, finished fine this time and the phone is now working hard on applying language, just like usual...
I almost crapped my pants for a while...

Vijay Singh golf game always froze and really let phone down. Now after update it plays very smoothly.
Apart from that can't find any new features etc, just much better speed.
Even the boot up from turned off is much faster!

I can`t believe what i am reading.. We don`t no Elenas, Marias and Lizys,.. If what you guys are saying is true we just got the best from SE.
How much faster does the phone turn on? Do you notice any changes in video playback? Maybe try the volume "bug" in full screen playback? |

Something is wrong - Trying to do a restore, after the phone is re-booted, PCsuite won't recognise the phone and the restore won't finish. I have to log out on the PC before it will re-connect (and then the restore is gone)

I felt SE was loading new firmware on the server when I tried to update my P990 and my W950 at 5:00pm GMT, I got a white window then it took back to start and here they are...

Don’t get exited about that update..
Almost all well known bugs are still here:
--Delete Option for messaging still missing
--Now in most cases I can use only one program in background maybe two
--When you connect it to PC all applications are loosing folder association
--Phone still restarts itself (already two times)
--You still cant receive a call when GPRS is active
--Music volume still the same
--Restore is a real joke, you still have to reinstall all the applications after update
--and so on…

Personally I like that feature and don't think it's a bug. As for all the rest, haven't really noticed a difference.
Also, immediately after the update I had a very unpleasant experience, I received a call, pressed "yes" and the phone rebooted!!! I would have thought that this is the first thing SE would have fixed. Maybe SE forgot that the P990 is a PHONE and accepting calls is the primary function of this device. I find it very unprofessional of SE to not publish a change log. If SE keeps with this trend, the P990 may be the last PDA/phone they will ever be able to sell!! Anyway, I will wait until summer to give a final verdict.

A question for those who have completed the firmware upgrade - is the 'downloading phone software' progress bar reliable? In case of the previous upgrade, the download completed at various stages between 10% and 30% for me.
Thanks.

Download bar goes up to 31%, then starts updating the phone.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

I regretted why I updated my phone now when I clicked
the icons and goes back to the screen I noticed that the
icons I used dissappered. I wondered why so I updated it again
thinking it would change but it didn't. Although the phone
is a bit faster than before It is like having a tweak peaks
application on it the transition of applications is faster
(I tried tweak peaks appz but I uninstalled it before my
recent updates and now I don't need it)
How can I fix this problem? To tell you I am getting each
day unsatisfied with P990 I miss my P910 which the SE
stop producing in our country maybe I can buy only second hand
of it. My P910 is already dead which I loved so I waited for this P990
which I thought would excel more than my P910.
I hope the next FW will not be long. I am still not
giving up SE They have other phones that are great
but they should do something of the FW of P990
Hoping for the best to come |
