I've ordered one the other day (due next few days hopefuly). If you go to the eBay link, email the seller, he emails you back and keeps you up to date with what he's got, when he's making some more. He's very helpful. (I say I ordered one, I meant I got my cousin to order one... as I think eBay is the website of Satan. This way, my concious is clear).

My metal joystick on my K600i hasn't given me any problems as of yet. Been using it for about 9 months already. Though I can see some dust accumulating, doesn't affect the joystick's performance yet...

I've had to return my K800i for the second time in 2 months due to a faulty joystick. The first time it stopped responding when i pressed left, the second time it stopped responding when i pressed down. The only way around it was to press on the joystick harder. I've always taken care of the phone, kept the joystick free of dust and always kept it in a case. I guess it's a manufacturing problem.

its not dust getting into the joystick that stops it from working, because it has a rubber seal all around it. i took my phone apart to clean it out and realized this.

For those of you brave enough to try to disassemble your K800, there is a blow by blow guide with pictures that you can follow.

I don't think I need to say this, but -- this WILL void your warranty.

Also, there is a comprehensive list of other disassembly guides for SE phones.

I am also facing the joystick problem now. Thinking of taking it in to get it cleaned out. Is it possible to replace the joystick assembly?

My joystick is awful when accessing Opera Mini. Really annoying. But, I don't want to give it to SESC. I don't 'believe' them..

The joystick problem sucks. But what to do? It's the only phone out there with a 3.2MP AF cam with Xenon flash which is wonderful to use because of the Sony Ericsson user-interface.

Even if the next Sony Ericsson K800i upgrade is using a joystick, i'd still buy it. And why? Because no other phones can compare to it.

Just tried my Air Blaster and it worked a treat. It feels all new again, if it was only summer.....

I clean area around my K800 joystick using small cotton bud (for babies). Not that it has problem but I thougth it will cause no harm to have clean joystick anyway.

Ok, what i do when my joystick sticks lol...

I get a very very tiny flathed screwdriver, smaller then the one you need to take the tiny screws out n the back case.

I then poke it int the joystick, and down the tiny gap, and then prise the pad up.. i do this, top, right, botom, left, and then click the joystick back down...

Seems to do the trick for me

I miss the use of the volume buttons as well.

The K750i had firmware that could utilize the volume buttons even for the T9 dictionary.
