in the W800 mediaplayer, you can use up and down joystick to scroll through the list of songs, without leaving the playnow screen and without stopping the current song.
Is everyone 100% sure you CAN'T do this with the K800? Has anyone actually tried up or down joystick to see what happens? It seems very bizzare to me that K800 would have a playnow screen that's not as flexible as the W800.
I guess another question is does the W810 playnow screen behave like K800 or W800?

On my W810 I can do exactly what you're asking. I dont own a K800 so I'm not sure.
@Max, you're seriously on a missing to upgrade your K750i to a perfect transition, but if you can live with the further seperation that the K800 has from the upcoming w850i then I think you'll be fine. I know that you MUST have a lense cover!
One walkman feature that I HOPE gets implemented with 2 is the ability within the playlist to manually drag songs in ANY order you wish instead of using the sort function.

On k750,W800 and W810, cristal sound, lot of power, great superbass with hpm70, try give volume to your K800 and you will see that the volume for music (same melody and same earphones-hpm70) is by far too slow.Give volume to your K750,w800,w810 and you`ll se the big diference.K750,w800,w810 performs like phones as welll as good music players;K800`s music volume is too slow!!!Why SE did this to all SE`s fans.I`m not the only one with this point of view and I was especting K800`s sound to be at least as the k750.Any idea if it will be improved???

That I am!! I like your idea about changing song positions by drag and drop. well maybe not drag and drop, but a softkey option to "move song up or down" would be good.

A year or two ago SE made phones that "had it all" (good camera w autofocus, good mediaplayer with megabass and all). No big difference between the K and the W series, maybe except from the flightmode and a bit more sophisticated mediaplayer in the W.
Proof: The SE K750 had even better sound than the W800 - without hiss - and the W800 had the same camera as the K750. And of course the W900 with the best (at the time) camera, best sound and best video capabilities.
Then SE decided to separate the W from the K even more, by crippling the sound facilities in the K phones, and crippling the camera in the W phones.
Proof: W-phones without autofocus, K-phones with lower sound quality and no Megabass.
It sure would be easy for SE to make the complete device with both the best camera and the best player, but the don't want to do that for marketing reasons. So there we are, facing incomplete phones that really don't satisfy our needs.

I totally agree with Jolitorax.SE think will sale many phone doing that but they will only decrease the number of SE`s fans.I was a fan of Nokia but when I saw that I can have walkman and camera in same device I choose SE(k750,w800 then w810)...SE were the best. Now I must choose music or camera...I`ll choose NOKIA.I`m very disappointed with K800`s volume in earphones(hpm 70) and I can`t use my k800 to replace my mp3 player.
k750,w800,w810 were great and made many people to choose SE not Nokia. |

I'm sticking with my K750 turned W800 with no hissing mod, full patched flightmode (gsm radio only off, everything else working), full walkman (not the crap in K800), lense cover (unlike newer walkman phones), playlist folder in memory stick to back up playlists, games folder in other folder on mem stick so java games can be sent to other phones, java permissions stripped away (no prompts) and more.
The only thing I'm missing from K800 is the 3.2MP camera and best pic feature (no loss for me, I wouldn't bother using it) and stabiliser, and java multi-tasking. (I will miss the 3.2MP but I can live with it for now)
The only thing I'm missing compared to newer walkman phones is...nothing okay okay, bigger screen, better video W900, flashlite (who cares) but that's about it.

arent you abit childish with that comment ei max?!
but i agree with yah... havin K750/W800 around is much exciting than havin a K800... coz theres FAR, SEFP and patches patches patches.... i bet i can beat any shots taken from a K800 with my K750 havin my MXE-60. and of course my complete camdriver arsenal.
and stickin to the topic... theres alot more improvement in sound with the K750 over K800... much louder.. more vibrant... and a kickazz bass.

Yep, I'm just a big kid
Actually, on the thread topic, my mind still isn't made up. I need to get a good look at the K800, but until then I'm not too worried because I get to have more fun with my K750 hacking!!

Please know that not everybody has the ID3 tags all correct. And not everybody wants to spend time fixing all the tags before throwing them on the phone.
There is also no possibility to list on Genre.
The problem is when you have Audiobooks & Music on the phone.
The audiobook files have 1 Artist, but every track may start with a different letter. The music id3 tags all start different letters AND have different artists.
When you want to listen your audiobook it's easy. Select artist->(name of writer) and you have just the audiobook playing.
Now you want to listen all your music, you can't select on artist because there's to many of them. So you select 'All'. Now you have all the music, but everywhere there's parts of the audiobook.
I'm not saying the musicplayer is bad, I just think it's missing the feature to play a folder.
I don't want to come off as being negative, I think it's a great phone but needs a bit of tweaking.
Edit; on Sony deliberately crippling things with camera on Wphone and player on Kphone...
I think they are also crippling the Video recording. Sure K800i can't record HD, but a bit more then this should be possible.
But then again less people will buy their camcorders...

On your computer just put the audiobook files in a folder, copy the folder to the /mssemc/media files/audio folder on the mem stick, then using the phone add that folder to a playlist.
It may not be exactly what you want, but it's a shitload more organised than just leting them get all jumbled up.

Somebody please tell me if SE will fix this sound volume problem????
I really hope so because k750 is much better than k800.I tried different K750s with the same HPM-70 and for the certain the music is better than the combo of my K800 with HPM-70. And i tried another K800 and the quality is the same worse as mine. I really cannot figure it out how SE can do this. |
