Masseur's the real deal here but you're most welcome. It took approx 75 minutes to download the firmware (slow internet connection), and around 30 -40 minutes to install (flash) the firmware into the device. Flashing the phone refers to the updating of the device's firmware.

| Thanks! Finished my update but I am not sure how long it actually take because the 'update service' hang for hours and hours. I called the SE service center to ask them how long it suppose to take and they told me it should take about 10 mins and that i should have brought to them to do it and not be doing it myself. Anyway, they told me to unplug the phone and to bring it doen to the service ccenter if it could not start up. Luckily my phone seems to be OK now ... and it's definitely much much faster than before. |

Hmm, to sit on the fence or make a call... I choose to remain completely neutral, or, if you feel inclined you can PM me an amount your willing to pay for me to be swayed
Just to be adventurous, I think I'll give upgrading a try. Though the update software is saying that I have the incorrect version of flash installed. I assume other people have experienced this before so I'll see if I can track down a thread on it. Otherwise feel free to make my job easier

No problem mate... Do the upgrade!
Speaking of flash, I am guessing that you are reffering to flash for the upgrade. However I noticed that my possibility to view flash files in the m600 is now gone, so it looks like the built in flash player is gone. Anyone else having this problem? |

Sorry, I was referring to the Sony Update Service software, when I try to launch it on my PC it says Incompatible Macromedia version. required version available at http://www.macromedia.com... sounds odd. I'll look around and see if i can find any other update solutions
Update: I think it fixed it when I disabled WindowBlinds. I've installed the latest firmware

Hi all, the upgrade process is taking about 68 MB for R3A firmware. So it's take a while time to d/l.
And for sony update not working with macromedia compatible things , u need browse the "plugin" folder in your browser. Then it will d/l automaticly to upgrade macromedia flash.
I'm using opera browser..so look in Opera/program/plugins then double click "GetFlash.exe" file.
hope it helps.

| You will experience such (slight) speed increase after any and all firmware reset, including online update or formatting the C: drive. It's simply a consequence of radically cleaning up the file system. It is noticeable whenever you used the phone for a while before resetting, even if you do a restore afterwards. As it is, it says nothing about the inherent features of the firmware installed. |

My phone was brand new and sluggish, and then I flashed it and phone performance increased notably. This confirms (to me at least) that the updated firmware improves the performance, despite your suggestion to that this is not the case.

Thanks mate, but as I said (or at least... i think i said) turning off WindowBlinds seemed to remove the message about my version of Flash being incompatible. I have and had the latest plugins installed when the problem was occuring.

How did you get to view flash-lite files with your M600i? Is there a special filename for those files because mine sais that the filetype is not supported... |

Apperantly it has SVG Tiny 1.1 installed and not Flash Lite as I assumed. So I mixed up the two. |

im running on r1a52 right now and im okay with the firmware as it is... my only problem (so far) is when i receive jpegs from a bluetooth device (haven't tried OTA), almost all of them (jpegs) don't display themselves.. maybe only 2 out of 4 show the image... have you guys experience this already? thanks!!!

The problem with performance and comparing one with the other on each phone is that everyone has different service providers and in most cases, different software and settings. I don't think anyone can take the advise of others as gospel which is a shame!
I for one will employ a TIAS approach and hope that SE have done their homework I feel very confident that the firmware will stabilise rapidly within the next 3 months, judging by the regular updates so far.

I dont see how a service provider would make a difference at the moment to the speed of the OS...of course if they customised the software than thats fair enough, but most people with the m600i have it unblocked and customised free... |
