Do you get them free now mate? if so you will be affected!

I have had no text or letter from them but have cancelled as they will start billing for them from the end of this month with no exceptions!

Taken from O2's website regarding special numbers.

"Customers who have connected or upgraded to a Pay Monthly plan before April 27 will be charged as for standard UK fixed lines (01 & 02 numbers) up to 27th September 2007. From 28th September 2007 the rate of 20p per minute will apply to these numbers. Calls to these numbers will not be included in bundle minutes on any Pay Monthly plan.

They cannot prove that you won't be using those numbers in the future and remainder of your contract!

They told me the same to start with but now I have 2 PAC codes in the post mate!!!

Read Post 441 on thispage, I used this letter as a template and emailed it to O2.

They will tell you over the phone that you can't cancel without incurring a fee, but keep at them as you are well within your rights and lots of others have done exactly the same! including me!

Be careful though Naz as I have heard of some people being offered the sim only deal and when they try to cancel find that it is tied into a contract!

I'm not entirely sure about it TBH but it's worth checking into!

I'm gonna port out to a T-Mobile PAYG for a while and then get a new contract when the time is right!

I have been trying to get out of this contract since August 2005 as 4u Business grossly mis-sold me the contract and it has cost me in excess of £1500 over the 2 years!

By getting out now I have saved £370!

Just got off the phone with O2 after 20 minutes of holding...

My current plan is 500 mins and 500 texts, £30 per month, 12 months.

She found one number in the last three months that made me eligible to cancel fee free. (I know about the difference over the phone and an email but hey...)

She told me she could change my tariff now to 600 mins and 1000 texts with a free phone and long weekends for £35 per month to which I declined.

After a long chat about all their deals etc she told me that they have some new data tariffs coming in on the 1st of October. She couldn't tell me how much they were or what they included but did tell me they are very competitive (she would I know) and there are numerous ones.

In the end we got down to me ringing back on October 1st to sort out a new deal including data and a free K850 (also coming out on October 1st through O2) for no more than £35 per month with more mins and texts with long weekends or I can cancel.

Overall I'm pretty happy, not long to wait.

All customers on O2, new or existing, will be charged for ANY 08 or 09 number from now on. Tough cookies I'm afraid. I can't see what the big deal is. You get free minutes to landlines and mobiles etc, and free texts. 08 numbers are usually only for big companies that you would get charged for on a landline anyway (apart from 0800 obviously), sex lines or international calling cards that undercut (and piss off) O2's own international services.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.
