Why is flashing using "flash language" not safe? it takes one less log which in the long run saves money but why do most people not use this method?

No, if you flash by AVR and ARM separately, it still takes only 1 log, yes, it's ONE log only! Remember this concept pls, because a lot of people make this wrong.
The problem of flash language is, you will have a chance getting all 4 locks locked after flashing. I've confirmed this from an expert. |

so every time you want to flash your phone by yourself..you have to buy an unlockingkey for 5?.

Yes, you are right. But if you realise that all US T68m user need to send out their phone and pay $25 for the upgrade, 5GBP is really a small amount.... |

Also, if one want to save money in a long run, the best method is to buy the unlimited credit... |

Ericsson wouldn, be adding features into the t68 anymore why bother buying then flashing when you'll only get back the same software at the user end? I'd rather rate the money and get a p800!

people, READ the posts carefully before asking questions that have already been answered!
All waikincheng is saying is that it is possible to upgrade a T68->T68i yourself. All you need are:
1. A T28 unlocking/flashing cable (readily available online for less than $20)
2. The EricClient software (downloadable online)
3. The T68i firmware file (downloadable online)
4. Log to connect your phone to a server (through EricClient) and put it into flash mode so the T68i firmware can be flashed to your T68 - when you BUY this (for less than $10) you are provided with a login and password. NO this is not available for free...c'mon.
Why would anyone want to do this? Well for people living in North America, this is the only way (other than mailing it off to an individual such as Robb) to get the T68 MMS upgrade. Plus its much cheaper b/c you avoid having to mail your phone and don't have to wait to get it back.

@Quaky
No free lunch!
I'm so sad to see so many new poster just asking some question that I've answered before.
I am not meaning that I don't want to help you guys. I just want to emphasis that, I've posted all the materials here. You need to learn it yourself, not always ask.
Also, to those previous CD-ROM, read clearly before you ask for the flash.
I will not reply to any "me too" message. They are really disgusting. Please describe what have you read, and how clear you know about flashing.
Here are the materials again, READ THEM PLS.
1. read this thread thoroughly, post by post.
2. read this page: http://www.gsmhacking.com.ua/using_tips.php?id=18
3. read the readme.doc in any ericsclient.(Don't ask me where is the ericsclient, this is a question revealing that you HAVEN'T read enough.) |

To all guys:
R2E is already good enough. upgrading to R5D/R5C will not give you really a big difference.
Please remember that R5D is a T68ie version, which means that it has only chinese and english language(it does have english menu and english T9 input, don't worry), and it has chinese input. It's originally for the T68ie with chinese key stroke on thier keypad. However, with ericsclient, you can flash any T68 model to any firmware, including this. R5C is a generally version for all languages.
And, if you guys have luck, you will find the latest flash file in www.unlocking.co.uk in this week, as told by the web master. But it still haven't appeared now. Please be patient to wait. |
