Hello, I'm new and just joined the forum. I got my W810i on 02/CPW upgrade last week. I don't really phone during the day so I'm happy to stay with my existing off-peak anytime contract. The deal I received was the phone being free of course, £25 pm O2-LTA with 500 off-peak xnet mins + 100 txts pm + £150 cheque back on a standard 12 months contract. So it works out to be £12.50 pm which isn't bad I think.

Upgraded both my Orange and O2 handsets to W810i models. I was going to cancel the O2 contract because I hate the number but I negotiated the O2 25 tariff (25 mins and 25 texts) at just £6 per month for 12 months and the phone was free. I gave the O2 contract SIM to my mother to use in her J300i, she makes hardy any calls per month. I put an O2 PAYG SIM in the W810i and receive 300 texts per month for £10. That takes care of my text and photo messaging.

My Orange account allows me to upgrade for free every 6 months and currently I'm on the Talk 60 plan for £19 per month. I only upgraded my Orange handset last September to a W800i which I sold for £170. My first Orange W810i handset was faulty, earpiece volume was very quiet. However Orange collect faulty handsets from you directly within the first few days. A motorcycle courier asked for the handset, battery and charger and in return I received a brand new fully boxed phone and accessories.

Why do I use a PAYG SIM in the O2 W810i? Well, when I have built up enough credit I'll transfer the credit onto a new O2 contract keeping the same number and if I go for a cash back option I'll get some or most of the money back that I spent topping up the PAYG SIM.

I think I'll sell the Orange W810i because the branding is terrible compared to their W800i. I've got my trusty SIM free K700i which I think has superior earpiece sound quality. I still have my T68i which I use as a phone book backup. Receive new phone and bluetooth the contacts to it.

This whole "line rental" thing is confusing to me, but I understand it's the way GSM's done in the UK and Europe in general...

Well its like this, normally all line rental are fixed till the end of the 12, 18 or 24 months period and then after your contract you can threaten them and tell them that you will leave them and say that there network stinks and join another network THEN you will start hearing them cry lol and they will start blackmailing you offering you great offers with half price line rentals with a certain minutes and these are not fixed as the same as other customers or they can lower your line rental for life.

those are some great deals everyone's getting. all I seem to be offered is 500xnet mins and 100txts, for £25 on Orange!
cheeky buggers are changing the deals each time I call up, one just offered more minutes, I'm currently on 200mins/500texts for £30, and being robbed blind. so any tips on how to get that cheaper do tell, otherwise I'll jump to another network offering more for less...
cheers

basically mate i had decided to move over to flext... i phoned orange and said how much to pay off the coming months line rental...... they asked why? i said because on flext i can pay £35 a month and use £180 of stuff... calls are 20p per min... texts are 10p.... also on the onestopphoneshop, they offer you 6-9 months half price line rental...... and obviously a free phone (w810i in my case).......

They bent over backwards mate, but i do use my phone an awful lot (bills are stupidly high).......

but it does depend on who you get through too mate, some of these idiots dont give a damn and wont give you anything...... But some, are great... if you have a idiot on teh other end, say i have to go, i will ring back... and hope to get throught to someone nice.....

All the best, let us know what you get
