It should certainly have a quicker processor + platform,
as arez/max mentioned above and more importantly ,since it has no gpu,i belive the processor should handle the 320*240 pixels display (play videos in it at fullscreen),so i expect a major change in processor and platform,
i belive its only for marketing reasons that SE didnt put Cif video recording in it.

I think u've missed the set, Samsung E-720 or E730 ( I really don't remeber the exact model name now). My uncle has it and he shoted a video of her daughter crying and brought it to me 2 make a vcd. When i saw the video it was like WHOA!....It's 320x240 resolution and very clear ( higher fps i mean, but not sure the rate though)..
I made a vcd out of it, and then this K790 has broken my heart apart

Would love to know how the music player works - i.e. the interface. Whether it would be similar to current media player, Walkman or a completly new interface. I know the current software has Walkman which won't be in the final release. The Walkman phones missed the option to sort by album which is rather annoying for playing compilations. |

@ bavlondon2 & all regarding QCIF video recording - my point being, is that phones such as all of Nokia's recent releases and last years Samsung D600 all have higher video recording resolutions. Its a complete joke that they have the audacity to announce a phone such as the K800i, and keep old functions that arent updated to compete with other manufacturers products.
The D600 especially has outstanding video recording. I think its bloody stupid of SE to not offer higher video recording resolutions, in fact, im certain its a cost cutting scheme, and that the K800i will use similar if not the same hardware as the K750i, and possibly the K700i.
Ever since i got my K750i, although it does seem a large improvement in all terms over the K700i, it never felt like the phone was significantly faster, it just had more (or more developed) features. Why is it i get the feeling the K800i will be the same, and that is why the phone is limited to old outdated aspects such as low quality QCIF video recording ?

Does anybody know what the res on the w800 was ?
Its a shame i admit it but theres nothing we can do. There are loads of other features that SE incorporate that companys like Nokia and Samsung dont have. Like the best walkman software, auto focus, this best pic thing as well as a lens cover. Mobile phones these days area compromise. You cant have everything.
Even a stomperlike the sharp 903 is still issing an active lens cover and its bulky but in return your getting one of the bst cam phones on the market. |

As bad as it is, it is impossible to get everything you want from one phone. Yes, QCIF is outdated and yes, SE should stop being so stingy. The only reason why SE is doing this though is probably because of the rumoured handycam/slider-swivel phone, which will probably have very good recording capabilities.

K800 looks pretty amazing however a few things:
1) It is quite heavy compared to T68/K700/K750
2) It's in need of optical zoom to compare with digital cameras
3) I don't think it looks that good
Under colours, it says it's available in Velvet Black and Allure Brown - pretty sure all the pics we have seen are in velvet black, has anyone got any pics of it in allure brown? Might look better in that colour!

Here is a link to another thread with some pictures of the brown K800. Not as nice in my opinion; to be honest though, I don't really think that the phone is that nice (aesthetically speaking) anyway...

cheers for that shaliron, yeh I agree the black one looks better but as you say im not too impressed with the K800 looks! I have a feeling the brown one might look betta in the 'flesh' somehow though. |

I agree that this phone (k800) is a brilliant phone but like etaab have said the draw back is that its not runned by Symbian OS, i know for a fact if i move from Nokia 6630 to the K800 i would miss the password keylock which i find very very useful espeacially when i 4get my phone sometimes at home  , so at this time i might skip from the K800 onto the P990 but my only concern is does the P990 play WMV, Reaplayer8 just like the K800? because thats the only reason that made me consider the K800 in the first place because its a true multimedia phone and it wasnt the fact because its a cyber shot camera. So does anyone here knows if the P990 players WMV and Realplayer? |

If the K800 can do 9 pics at 3.2mpix resolution in 1 sec (BestPic), then should be able to do QVGA or CIF. QCIF is purely a marketing decision. All I know is if I do go for the K800, its gonna be almost embarassing when someone asks about the Video capture, for such a well featured phone.
SE really needs to start competing with OTHER brands, rather than worry about competing with themselves all the time. The rumored Video capture swivel-slider prolly isnt even due till close to the end of the year, or next year. |

The problem is as i said buying phones is a compramise.
If you want great video capture to have your friends in awe you go for a nokia n70 or n90 but you don get autofocus or optical zoom.
If you want optical zoom you go for the sharp 903
If you go for the k800 you will get a lot of stuff but minus the optical zoom and good video capture. It cant be that bad. The w800 was suitable and i dont mind if its like that at all. People are just to picky these days. I mean come on optical zoom on a camera phone. Isnt it enough hat your getting 3.2mp |

Indeed, it is all a comprimise but I dont think anyone considers QVGA or CIF to be great video capture, just what you'd expect considering every other manufacturer is offering it. Sam Z710 does 3.2mpx Auto-focus with CIF video and 6233 does 2.0mpix with VGA video.
I find the W800 video capture to be useless and remember there were some complaints about the video capture back when the k750 was released, since Sam E720 did CIF back then. To have it again with its replacement is silly, especially since the screen size has increased. The big display with a lil' video capture screen in the middle looks funny to me.
Id say Optical zoom is an overkill but even though most may disagree, QVGA video is not too much to ask for.
(btw, QVGA is less than CIF) |

i dont care about he video capture thatmuch. Its fine for me and to be honest id be geting so much more that not many other phones would have. To read an extensive 5 part review of this phone check out tis site.
Oh and i forgot to put this quote in aswell incase you were wondering when this is coming out. And this review confirms that such poor video was put in becasue SE indeed dos plan to release a new batch of models capable of shootin in HD.
