@tranquil

SE don't seem to be too willing to help on that front, which is a shame actually because they could generate a good bit of pre-release buzz and get people interested in a product. All this for the price of a handset, which they don't even necessarily have to give away, they could even just loan it.

i must point out, that Esato, is 24/7 constantly watched, and moderated and looked after. i have rarely come accross a post that is out of place, theyre always dealt with straight away!

after all my moaning, i must say this, Esato is huge. And its a bloody hard job looking after this place.

So Well Done masseur, laffen, tranquil, cytech, jh_67, laffen, GOwin, and anyone else i missed! for 3 years its been brill.

im just in a happy mood and suddenly thought of the scale of this forum! [addsig]

Hehe..quality over quantity.. Esato might not be the biggest .. But it certainly offers some great quality info than some of the bigger forums out there.. ;-)

@jenbones
I was working on the review when you commented the few reviews here.

Too bad I have to buy every single phone to get my hands on them. I am able to borrow every possible Nokia model from a good source, but it seems difficult with phones.

ditto here too. With no UK support I go out of my way to get phones so I can try to provide some sort of commentary.

a recent example was the W800 as I never really liked the styling since when it was announced but I felt compelled to get one on release day so that I could give an opinion as I did in a couple of threads.

recently, I have been collecting old P series, including an excellent, almost new condition P800 in readyness as comparison for a review of the P990 when I can get my hands on one and its really dissapointing when the first I can get is well after members in other countries already have one and have expressed their views. Its for this reason that I don't have reviews of many recent models since our members have already given such excellent commentaries themselves from phones obtained through normal retail outlets.

if some people here think we are not doing enough then that is both understandable and also dissapointing considering the lengths some of us go to, to try to bring early reviews of products. I have been lucky with K700, Z800 and to some extent W800 in getting the products from retail sources very early but I really do wish that would support us better, as a dedicated forum, so that we can bring more detailed reviews much sooner

in the same way that laffen mentions about nokia products, I find that I am more able to bring opinions on windows mobile devices much quicker than I can the products on which we focus on here at Esato

also, laffen, i think, should listen to people more on the avatars situation.

ive designed a much clearer W900 avatar that i doubt he will use, now thats fine because hes a busy man but where is the harm in changing it to look better?

@masseur

your reviews are very helpful! it certainly put me off the V800 and W800 but i bought them anyways [addsig]

I'm not talking about just the reviews, I'm aware that it's difficult to have phones like that and that laffen and the mod's are doing a great job but like scot said, it's stagnant. If the review section doesn't really move, why not consider another section which might have more succes ?

What I also see is that lot's of sites make's partnership of different kind. Esato has only one and it has been for years now ... . Just as an example, I could have made a partnership with pivot (lack of time), I would get free mobile phone cases in exchange of a small banner on my site which I could rotate with adsense. My site was very very very small compared to Esato so I'm sure it can do better partnerships ... .

Oh and Axxr, like you say it many many times, "if you don't like the thread, why even bother replying?"

Sure there’s room for improvement, there always is. But please, please, please don’t let users create there own avatars or have pictures in the sigs, it just makes a forum look messy

Couldn't agree more with that statement!
Esato definitely hasn't "worsened" in any aspect since i joined last year..
But, i'd like to add that it neither has improved...but i still love the "never changing" attitude of Esato!

Also, when we talk about Esato, its generally about the forums...we often forget that Esato has some other sections too where lots of changes can be made for the better!
The forum (any forum) has a habit of its own, and its better to let it take its own course.
But as axxxr already mentioned, there's always room for improvement, even in the forums!
But the overall atmosphere of Esato ultimately is created by the set of active members visiting it...if some people think the atmosphere isn't what it "used to be" its purely because the set of members they interacted with have either left the place or are no longer intersted in coming here...
This holds true for almost all forums..and Esato is no exception.

My god people, read ! Again and again, my comment's had nothing to do with the "atmosphere" of the forum right now or in the past.

Oh well, at least I would have tried something.

Whether Esato has gotten better or worse is arguably a matter of perspective; my own personal view is that it has gotten worse, others may not agree my view.

What has been mentioned, however, are tangible and objectve points that can be discussed from a point of view other than a personal one. Everyone seems to agree that there are things that could be improved upon, where the problem comes in is in implementing those improvements. There seems to be little in the way of feedback to suggestions forwarded and there seems to be even less movement on actually implementing some very good suggestions that have been made over the years. Hence stagnation.

What we do seem to have is an endless stream of lethargy, procrastination and what is either ignorance of the situation or spin. So many people I have spoken with like Esato, but feel that it has so many things it could improve on. I'd really like to see Esato move forwards and be the best it can be in all areas.
