I want one.
I wouldn't say that Sony tries too hard to be the first on the market with very latest innovations but I would say that whatever they do they do tend to get right first time.
Its such a huge company making a broad range of goods that it would be silly to say all of it is crap, now wouldn't it. |

for me sony are a company trading on reputation. (iaint talking about mobiles but electronics)
in europe they are over priced and behind in technology for me. only recently have they prodcued tv with more than 2 rgb scart sockets. there plamsa range is only just getting hd ready , were as other manufactors have been producing hd ready systems for 3-4 years.
there designs are still very nice but on a technology side they are behind.
some of there recent results have been very poor as well.
whiz hit the nail on the head they do seem to be jack of all trades master of none at the moment.
you can get better kit for a lot less money

I don't agree, Look at the PSP market when it fully goes live around the world. I also own a Sony Widescreen 23inch SDM-P234 (WUXGA 8ms) monitor that can playback HDV movies.
Also... a couple of months ago, i purchased the worlds smallest HDV video camera HDR-C1. I don't think Sony are behind the 8ball just more cautious if anything...
Posted an example below.
Since then they (Sony) have a released an updated version for the professional market called HVR-A1U.
The Sony HVR-A1U is the fourth offering in the 1080i HDV.
With a street price of around US$2700.00, this isn't the cheapest camcorder on the block, but it's to date the least expensive HDV camcorder available, and best of all, it's coming in at 1080i, which suggests Sony is very future-looking to the time when all television is 1080. The small package will pack well, and it's small size makes it perfect for mounting on the front of a car, motorcycle, or parachute helmet. The low cost makes it perfect as a crash-cam or high-risk camera where a more expensive camera might be too risky to place.

like i said in my post i was refering to europe as i have no knowledge of the products available worldwide. im sure the stuff that comes out in japan is way ahead of the european market.
i still stand by my claims though that in europe many other manufactures produce better tvs, plasmas and hifi equpiment for a lower price.
as for camera s and camcorders i have no idea as its an area i have very little interest in so could nt say were sony were way ahead or way behind.
i dont mind paying more if im getting more but i dont feel sony in the fields ive mentioned excel in the european market |

i agree there dvd recorders are very good however there dvds arent as good and quite pricey compared to the competition.
as for there tvs i would look at other brands before sony, in particular panisonic if your after a crt tv or even philips which youll get cheaper get a better picture and have more connections which dont half come in handy if youve got sky a dvd and a games console running thorugh them
dont get me wrong i dont think like the original poster that sony make crap quite the opposite they make good products but others make equally as good products and better when the price is taken into consideration |

doohan,
a bit off topic. that looks very similar to the HC1, which is the first COMPACT HD camcorder being released here in my country. does it have 3CMOS sensors as well? |
