1. This is fake
2. Did somebody notice that this is already the 300 page and we haven`t seen an high-tech phone from SE. I heard that SE is watching Esato. When they saw this thread, I`m sure that they were laughing like idiots.

I think SE has had the phone(s) ready for a while but they might revise their devices each time Nokia, Samsung or Moto release/announce a new hanset.

They might wait for the public's reaction to Nokia's phone like the N95, E65, etc.. or Samsung's F700 to see if it's wise to add features.

They could easily release a phone with HSPDA, 3G, wifi, touchscreen, decent cam, etc... but they need to know if they have a demand for that and if carriers are willing to carry the handset in their portfolio. Only a few of us are willing to buy them sim free. they need the carriers to buy the handsets from them and sell them for cheaper with a contract, otherwise the phones will just die on the shelves or in warehouses and SE will never recoup their investment in R&D, etc...

Nokia ans Samsung are strong enough to release an army of handsets every year with a few real high tech devices each year but I don't think SE can, not even Moto seems willing to release really innovative devices since the Razr (3 years old).

A shame for us, we'll have to wait for the average phone user to take an interested in these hansets to see them released and updated more often.

Anyway, SE, you should think about your fans and early adopters who can easily make your products more popular than they alaready are.

Spot on remirez, look at the W880I, no HSPDA or GPS but no one cares either, no one uses the video phone features much these day's due to cost, just want stylish designs with multi media functions. Plus I've used my 3G web access when in reception of it and I think it's blindingly fast as it is. More then quick enough for web surfing and sending emails.
I also think the camera's are for conveniance. SatNav is a good idea as I use TomTom on my P990 in my car but that's also cause of the nice 2.8" screen, to start to put it into normal phones is fine for conveniance if your on foot or want to find a resturant etc, but pointless in a car cause the screens are too small I think.
This might all be why you can't get a SE phone with HSPDA or a GPS module built in.
I see a lot of people at work getting the W880I now, because it's a stylish thin well made music phone that's easy to use. One person ditched an LG chocolate for it.

exactly, at the moment, people just want stylish, small, slim phones on which you can listen to few mp3s, shoot a picture once every month (if at all), a good battery, and that's it. The majority wins, the public gets what the public wants.
For the others like us, turn to HTC or maybe Nokia (just watching the Nokia N95 ad as I'm typing this, contradicting all that I've just said, ah the power of marketing )

checked out the link
http://wap.sonyericsson.com/UAProf/P700iR100.xml

seems to me its like sonyericsson WAP site page where it checks which phone it is....probably to see what features the phone supports and what content it can show.

from the XML seems like p700i has
>240x320 resolution
>supports realmedia and windows media content - (vnd.rn-realmedia application & x-ms-wma audio)
>supports ms office files - (vnd.ms-excel application/vnd.ms-powerpoint application\vnd.msword application)
>uses Opera 8.5

which all seems pretty reasonable in the phone!

so the w999i link
http://wap.sonyericsson.com/UAProf/W999iR201.xml

also seems pretty reasonable! altho it could just be there for testing purposes..and may not mean that they will definitely release it

If not Friday, there is a strong chance it will be on the 8th or 9th of May.
I seriously hope the production is already these babies out, cuz if we have to wait another 4 month after the announcement, SE might be in trouble as I might not be the only one to hitching to get a new handset. There are a few out there from other maker wich might be worth a look.

The most logic product launching window after this friday will be either on 1st may when spider man 3 premier in japan and hk or 3rd when its out at usa. This seem to be the best time we see new phone just like how se launch w850 last year...on the day davinci code is out plus you might even saw those new phone in the movie like last year.
