i might get n96 instead of x1i! M gettin this weird feeling, that x1i would be priced too high when it releases here.

Its logical that the price will be relatively high for at least 4 weeks, but the N96 isn't as good as N95 8GB, when it comes down to quality and ergonomics

Also of note, if you check the user guide (linked a couple of post back) near the top you'll notice that the 3G and UMTS bands listed for both models are identical... Engadget has an interesting article on it, stating just that. I think it's premI think it's the X1i that SE submitted to the FCC for review (Why, I have no idea?). ature to count out the X1a from including AWS 3G (Piguino2). I've taken up the stance of waiting until mid November to see what ALL of the manufacturers have to offer and are available before making a purchase decision and upgrading to my next phone (ala HTC Touch Pro/HD, Nokia Tube which now all of the sudden sounds a little appealing, or X1) this year...

Didn't SE say that they wouldn't announce their plans for the X1 and North America until the beginning of November anyways?... In my experience with SE, SE doesn't know it's head from its own ass. I'll wait until it's finally out before believing anything they say. I can't count on all of my fingers how many times things have been wrong or out right misleading in their various forms of media promotion (including their OWN website and publications)! I can't help but feel like SE is waging a misinformation war campaign on it's target audience before the release of every one of it's new handsets! Maybe this has something to do with their drop in market share and profitability?...

Great post. Thank you.
I was suspecting the same, but I couldn't believe it because there is no reason to sent to the USA FCC a handset that won't be used in America.
Unless it is true that it will be only one set world wide, but then again, there are other bands missing to be a true World Wide Whone

You have any other thoughts on this issue?

Well there was someone who had postes that now both x1i and x1a would be same, i dont remember where it was, but i guess, many missed it(or i read it in another website)?

C905,
yeah i know, n96 is basically a downgrade, in the power department. But, kinda confused, need to get a new phone within 15 days, n only good options seems to be x1i(which i dono when will it arrive), n96 and e90.

Yeah, what he said. So is it possible to bluetooth multiple files?

Yeah, I have no idea... I hate to speculate or even give you anecdotal information (versus facts), however in this case I think i've seen other phone manufacturers (I think HTC and Nokia have done just this before, but don't quote me on it) give European 3G banded phones to the FCC first, and then later the actual US 3G banded phones for what I assume is a quicker pass through?.... I dunno to be honest, or maybe both the international and US X1 phones share the same bands, with the difference being the Qualcomm chip (which restricts both Image quality and FPS when recording video, dropping them from VGA @ 30 FPS to QVGA @ 24 FPS on the X1a, as someone mentioned in a prior post)?...

Well, whatever the case SE's advertising and promotion division sucks major donkey balls! I hate the fact that you can always count on some shit being stated wrong on a particular model on their website. How are the consumers supposed to be informed, when it seems that no one is communicating within the company itself?...

EDIT: I just read on another blog that the likely reason for this action is so SE can sell this model in the US (though that contradicts what I mentioned above about the Qualcomm and Broadcomm patent dispute. Maybe he meant in the case 3rd party resellers? Think eBay...) and also so people visiting or traveling in the US from abroad can use their phones while here, which makes more sense to me imo. After all, you don't want to get busted by those imaginary rabid FCC coppers policing the streets here looking for people using tech not approved by the FCC for use in the states while on "holiday" here, now do you?... ;P

I can send multiple files with my W910, so why not with X1.
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand...

w910 is an A2 platform while X1 is a wm. With touch flo 3D you couldnt. So i am doubtful about x1i's...

Hi Hmyzak_SE,

Does the X1 you had allow you to select "UMTS only" mode for internet and making calls? (I don’t mind receiving calls in GSM network, since receiving calls are free XD )

In Australia, the carrier 3 has a small ‘broadband coverage’, when the 3G signal is weak, your mobile will roaming to Telstra’s GSM network. For prepaid customers, if they use internet or make calls in the GSM network they get charged at a much higher rate.
