It is proven that most of the human population cannot see the difference between 262k an 16.1M of colors. Human eye can differentiate about 1M of colors in laboratory conditions. And mostly this number is smaller in normal conditions. And 8 bits of 16.1M is used for alpha (image transparency) so the exact number of colors is not 16.1M.
What I really want to say is - I don't need 16.1M, 262k is cheaper. Instead of that I want f.e. bigger lcd with bigger resolution (480x240,16:9)
Sorry but all of that is complete rubbish.
Non of what you wrote is proven. I'd like to see references to the "laboratory tests" you speak of.
One can easily see banding in smooth colour gradients on, for example, the K800's 262K colour screen. In fact, the wallpaper I use on mine looks perfect on my PC CRT monitor but has noticeable banding on the K800's screen.
And you're getting confused with how alpha works. Transparency is expressed using an extra 8 bits on top of the 24bits (8 bits, 256 shades of red, green and blue) of colour information, so you really do get a full 16,777,216 colours.
I agree with you about higher resolution though, would be nice to have a WVGA screen on the K900 or whatever it's eventually called. |

Sorry but U had to reply, totally agree that I can see the differenc between the numbers of colours, why the hell else would manufacturers bother to make so many otherwise? Seeing as the more colours the weaker the battery life. You should be quoting colour spectrums and frequency's too surely as that's what we see, and if I change the colour bit rate on my LCD PC monitor I can certainly see a difference. On a mobile device screen of 2.8" then I am not sure of the benefits of 16 mil colours purely cause of the screen size versus battery life issue. |

@ PeterKay -- Maybe you could anonymously send the pics to a trustworthy source, and then they could post them on here from an anonymous person? Then we would all be happy and you wouldn't have to lose your life! |

now that's what I call a cunning plan, photoshop the pics so we can't see any background, just the phone. This way it will be impossible to know where the pics have been taken. Plus I'm guessing there is more than one handset going around at the moment.
As a matter of fact, I happen to have one right next to me.

Well Chris as i am a trustworthy person on Esato i can confirm that 3 very honoured members have been sent the pictures and they have vowed not to show this to anyone just yet, this will be announced very shortly so i guess it's worth waiting for the press release

At this moment I would kill for a real photo hahahaha... naaah just kidding! Patience is a virtue. We'll see it when the time is right. But this doesn't sound like a 7/8 may announcement to me, but earlier! |
