This seems like dual sim version of XZ2P right?
But battery capacity is 3400

Japanese version XZ2P is also 3400mah. It's just difference in how they define capacity. the same |

Is there any technical difference between AUBE and BIONZ X or just name? |

AUBE is AI tech
BIONZ X is old tech |

AUBE is Sony's custom ISP that fuses two images from both cameras, BIONZ X is an Image Processing Engine for Sony cameras, they have no relation, AFAIK.
Those tech sites need to do some research before posting bogus news. From those fake XZ2 Pro rumour, then the cancelled Z5 Tablet, and now the Japanese version of XZ2P that they thought would be the XZ2 Pro? (I'm mad lol)

Bionz used in sony mobiles simply refers to software optimisation unlike in the sony cameras.
AUBE is actually ground breaking,
It's a custom isp and i am waiting for the results.. Xz2 premium can wipe the floor with the competition with its camera specs alone |

Actually, Sony always have the best camera in terms of specs (XZ1 vs Pixel 2 and XZP vs S8+ for example). It was just their camera software and camera UI that need some tuning. That's why I'm a bit concerned with XZ2P, I'm afraid even with the new ISP and Camera system, it will lag behind Pixel 3. Google's image processing is just too groundbreaking to be beaten. Yes, I've seen samples from XZ2P in comparison to P20 Pro, S9+, and so on, but I'm still a bit afraid about it when it launches.
Skep, could you confirm what is the focal length of the second camera (the 12 MP one) on the XZ2P?

I suspect you cant merge two samples if both dont use same focal length , which would be 25mm.
I just have no idea how it works properly even with different DOF due to f1.6 x f1.8 ..
Huaweis phones use same lenses on both.
About new phones, what would be the 3rd?
The other two must be XZ2s/XZ3 and XA2+ .
About Pixel 3, hardware limitation will show up soon or later if they keep same 1/2.55" 12MP.
Software cant keep pushing forward.
Look at S9, no evolution from s8.
Tons of ppl on Dxo comment space asking XZ2, OP6, G7..
If they were supposed to reach 100, review would be out already.
None of them will pass 96.
Almost all devices above 90 pts , review was out same day device was announced.

As far as I understand (and I by no means have an in-depth understanding), the ISP and software processing go hand-in-hand. I would expect therefore the software would also be redesigned from the ground up to work with AUBE - and I'm hoping Sony have been able to apply some of the knowledge they gained from working with Qualcomm on the ISP for XZ2, as that seems like a major improvement from previous Sony phones.
Regarding DxOMark... you are probably right about XZ2 not being above 100, but then again it's not really fair to compare a phone which does not provide bokeh (I know there's an add-on app) or optical zoom, as obviously they won't be able to compete. People look at DxOMark for picture quality, so it's misleading that they include bokeh and seem to give it such importance, if anything it should be a bonus applied on top of a directly comparable base score. |

Software:
Bionz for mobile = It is the set of algorithms of Sony for the improvement of images. (Noise Reduction, Edge Sharpening, HDR, etc)
Hardware:
Bionz = The 1st generation of image processors
Bionz X = Chips more efficient and powerful, the engine has a more complex and sophisticated architecture, designed to manipulate large amounts of data at higher speeds, has more complex algorithms
AUBE = Designed to merge data from both sensors and software provide treatment to the image more quickly and accurately to each input. This software is Bionz for mobile. |

"Look at S9, no evolution from s8."
Actually, they've been using the sensor since S7, which has been 2 years. Yet people are complaining to Sony for using the same sensor in 1.5 years cycle.
Yeah, AUBE (fusion ISP) and BIONZ for mobile (Noise reduction, image stabilisation, motion detection, etc) works together, with the former as the hardware and the latter as the software.
I think there will be nothing exciting for IFA, I suspect that they will announce XZ2 Premium globally, XA2 Plus or something like that, and XZ2s. I could be wrong, though.

S7, S8 and S9 have different sensors.
Just same specs.
My opinion is that at some point better results will only be achieved with better hardware.
Bigger sensors like 1/2" , 1/1.9" , 1/1.6" etc...
If Pixel 3 has single cam and earns higher score than P20 Pro, it is fake.
Pixel (90) x Pixel 2(98) was already suspicious.
I hope at MWC, next flagship brings both 1/1.8".

The Pixel phones have bar non, the best camera software on any smartphone. That's why they keep winning. Hardware isn't everything. You only need to look at the actual pictures to see this. The Pixel and Pixel 2, despite being somewhat outmoded in terms of hardware, still produce images that not only compete, but outstrip competitor devices. And that's all down to software. |

I think I have a new idea for their next phone.
As we know, Sony doesn't like to slim down their bezels. Maybe because of stereo speakers and that bottom Sony logo on XZ2 series. They even need to use a downgraded camera because the bezels on XZ2 and XZ2c are shrinked.
I think it would be great for them if they shrink down the bezels (just to please those 'fans' or others out there that always bash Sony for their so-called 'huge' bezels), make the phone as a slider phone like the one on HTC 7 Surround, but make the phone slide to the bottom, instead of sliding left. Then put a good front camera and a primary speaker on the invisible part. They could tweak the screen-to-body ratio and that will make the phone look unique.
This is HTC 7 Surround.
Think of that, but with the speakers on the top of the phone, instead of the right side, and put a camera in the centre (with HTC M series top speaker alignment).
I hope all of you will get what I mean by those nonsense lol. I'll make the sketch if someone is interested in what I said.
