What other functions do you get with Mxit?

Its a application for a chatsite, u log on and visit chatrooms chat make friends and then add them as contacts, very easy to add contacts.... i got like 40 i think, can chat to contacts for free, but have to buy "moola" for the chatrooms, it was 1c per message but they recently raised it to 2c!!

as for server being busy, thats around 8-11 at night to many users the thing cant handle it so it rejects certain users...

u can add yahoo, msn and jabber contacts and chat to them as well for std gprs rates.... sometimes i dont even get charged at all even though im on for an hour or so... i dont know why...

i damn addictive, id say 80% of the users are arrogant indians but u can get around them... but theres different rooms for whatever u want... might be to young for you but its worth checkin out

786KBR: Maybe I should've been clear...How do you get into the chatrooms? Not that I want to chat with kids, just fascinated that this service has taken off the way it has.

Hostage @ home affairs

Did u guy hear this story!

I had that the papers and TV was somehow giving false report about this story.

e.g. some said the guy was 30 somewhats years while the guy is only 21. Luck enough we had the story first on YFM.

The big question is how many other storys are reported incorrectly?

@bongzino: Unfortunately many stories get reported incorrectly because of deadlines, especially in (music) radio which churns out news like it's bubblegum.

That story of the hostage drama was crazy, what's even more crazy is the fact that the guy's ID had been lying in a Pretoria office all along.

In the same breath though I should say Home Affairs has improved a lot...my passport was processed in about three months...my new ID also in the same time.

I agree with Brix, thins have improved. There are delays and mistakes everywhere. The main problem is our attitude towards each other.

Just came back from the local Orange shop at the Gallions Reach Shopping Centre.
They are clearing out the last of the SE Z1010 stocks, selling them for £69.99 (approx R790 with today's exchange rate)when you trade in any old brick.
Also, the Orange SPV C550 music phone (produced by the massive HTC group, owned by Microsoft)with WindowsMobile OS,complete with 512mb card,B/T,1.3mp camera, etc. is now going for £109.99,(approx R1230),also when you trade in your old brick.
If prices are dropping like this now, then roll on the post-Christmas sales...

@da wanqsta: Those
deals are awesome. Can you bring in just any phone as an exchange or will they only accept Orange branded phones?
What are the data rates on Orange?

@ brix,
You can take in absolutely ANY old brick,on any network. They don't even want the charger or manual! As long as the phone works, they'll accept it.
Methinks I'll be collecting my sister-in-law's old Siemens for trade-in purposes when I take her that Motorola C139 tonight...

Orange's data rates are NOT the best, by a long shot: £1 (R11.16 today) per MB...

That's quite nice... I won't mind picking up a branded/network locked phone for that price.
If data is that expensive how do people use wap and internet-based applications?

I guess it's not always a case of just taking the exchange rate into account,as I was doing in such instances.By this I mean £1 is over R11 for us,but to the Poms it perhaps is 'only' a Pound, perhaps similar to how we would say it's 'only R1'.
Just a wild speculative answer,obviously.
I am quite a price-conscious person, and I almost always sub-consciously change the prices into Rands to gauge a quick comparison.
Hence I post from my pc 90% of the time...

Price-comparisons are always good, even more so at this time of the year when the impulse-buying bug is at its most dangerous...

Very true,Kryptiik.
I wonder what percentage of people over-spend what they initially budgeted to be spending on pressies et al over the festive season...myself included.
