According to the Software version item from then Update service menu in the Settings (General) menu, my phone has:
1204-1731
R3CA033
080703

But when I choose the Update service from the Update service menu in the Settings (General) menu, I get this message:
'Your phone already has the latest software.'

So how do I upgrade the software?

I'm also wondering how to get Google Maps into the Location services menu, and enabled to provide geotagging of photos.

Any thoughts?

Just run SEUS via PC instead of via phone itself. If it always says yours is the latest, perhaps your phone is branded or you have the wrong CDA. Please post the detail of your firmware info, most importantly your CDA. If your CDA is 'wrong', SEUS rejects it forever. You can get the CDA info from Service Menu under Customisation.

Sorry to be so clueless, but I can see no Services menu, and no Customization item under any menu. Is there any other way of finding out the CDA?

My computer is a Mac, so is there any other way of updating the firmware?

The phone is branded - O2.

Yes you can at davinciteam.com. I recently unbranded mine and I got rid of the network-imposed shortcuts. It is a reasonable deal at 10 euros. From then on, you'll be able to enjoy free updates directly from SEUS.

I've got exactly the same problem and it is so annoying as it doesn't do the photos any justice. Have you managed to fix this problem? I've looked everywhere, don't really want to master reset incase i lose everything and not 100% that it will take me back to my previous software anyway.

I got a C902 today and I debranded it right away before even testing it. It originally came with the R3CA033 very lightly branded Cosmote-GR firmware. I installed a generic Adriatic R3CA037 from Davinci and afterwards I updated to R3CA038 via SEUS. The screen is unusually dark and what makes things worse is the "ingenious" automatic darkening of the screen at anywhere but a very bright environment. I HATE THIS! They must fix it IMMEDIATELY-if they can that is! Otherwise it is a nice phone save for the size of the screen. I was torn between this and the LG Secret which I was testing at the same time. I have to admit that the LG was superior to all aspects except fot the poor battery life ant the extreme slowness of the touch navigation pad. The photos it took, the video and the flash were a LOT better not to mention the size of the screen and its Divx capabilities. All this for only ten euros more, plus it came bundled with a very small and elegant BT headset! Oh, the C902 has definitely a better signal!

Please, can you tell me whether I should pack the C902 and exchange it for the Secret first thing in the morning!

I'm struggling to see why you even bought the C902. It sounds like you like the Secret a lot better! I have the C902 and have none of the problems you mention, and I find the picture quality to be really great. See mine and Plankgatan's photos in the C902 photo thread for some quality pictures.

Have anyone encountered any issues with the phone while using a 4 or 8gb M2 card? When the phone was first released, it appears that some people are having problems using larger sized M2s.

You have missed one very important point that I have made...the main reason why a mobile PHONE is being produced: To make phone-calls!
THE C902 HAS A MUCH BETTER SIGNAL! Still I am being torn between this BIG advantage and the many lesser advantages of the Secret.

Tell me your opinion about the next two photos shot today, in a beautiful cool day in MACEDONIA, GREECE.

The LG photo was taken about 12 minutes later. It is a windy day and the clouds are shifting so the sun is playing hide-and-seek.
