Hehe.. If you with /8 will be waiting, what about my /71?

I am using /8, anyone knows how is the upgrading process is like for releasing firmware? Will SE always bring the different versions to par or is it more likely for them to "forget" some less popular versions?

I am really tempted to get my set flashed to English only, but since there isn't any 3rd party Chinese input software out there, I am pretty much stuck.

Succesfully upgraded to R9EA In India : World generic 2

So far so good. Took about an hour totally to upgrade... Currently reinstalling all the applications.

The phone does feel faster... and yeah, can confirm the video playback is much better...Very large Videos open in seconds...

And Nope, I have no crashing of the phone on changing volume in full screen mode... tried the exact steps mentioned - no crashing found... works smoothly.. Even with different themes...

Definitely A useful upgrade on first impressions.

It still has problems with FM radio, when turning on all the features regarding RDS. After doing this, listening to some radio stations, the phone will reset "in order to improve its performance" as it says
Before flash, I kindly recommend to do a master reset, to format the stick, and don't use back-up & restore, because is the cleanest way of having a better phone.
I think will be a good idea if somebody will make a website and put all the goodies and bad things after upgrading, because all of us want to know what's good and bad after upgrading, especially people with other cda than 1 or 2, and it's difficult to read 30 pages that were posted in less than a week; I don't even want to think how many pages will have this topic in a month, and then start searching will be a no ending way.
Cheers.

My system info is a bit strange ...

Phone CXC162037 R7A001
Bluetooth CXC162058 R4F01
Organizer CXC162036 R3B01
CDA CDA162008/64 R3A01

What's with the CDA being 162008/64?

The phone was purchased from Carphonewarehouse as an unbranded/sim free phone yesterday (£500 is not cheap )

So can anyone tell me what the 64 signifies and also why mine shows 162008 when everyone elses is 162007?

I remember there used to be a list of what the numbers meant on the 910i but dont know if these would be the same for 990i?

Thanks for any help

my biggest irritation has been addressed at least - the kern-exec/IRsendlisten error that would totally kill the phone is no more!

nothing is perfect of course - this firmware is an incremental improvement, but at least it is overall an improvement.

one strange new development i've noticed is that the message alert light keeps blinking after receiving a new sms message, even after viewing the message, and will not go away until i reboot. anyone else see this?

Heh, just noticed that you can pause the media player with the handsfree button (at least with the handsfree that came with the phone). Just a short press and it pauses, then press again (directly after doesn't work for some reason) to start playing again.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I couldn't find anything about it in the manual, just checked.

I did a "format internal disk" from service menu, after upgrading. To be precise: in rds settings, activate all the stuff, and then start listen different radio stations. See how it works.

I have done that and what a mistake it was! After doing it,the radio became useless, since every time I opened it,the phone restarted. But then again,I have an older fw version so maybe the new one doesn't have this problem.Anyway,I don't understand why you ask people to do this, since it restarts the phone all the time
