I upgraded the firmware at the SE Website on 3 Oct to R1N035. The phone became a W800 when connected to PC. Language available is only English. Camera / Video quality improved from R1L...

Tried upgrading from the SE website again on 15 Oct, same R1N035, both time the upgrade progress to 56% and jump to 100% and site indicated upgrade successful. Phone now recognized as K750i again. Guessed SE fixed the issue. File name for upgrade below.
HL1_125953-APAC1-MR2-B_000000_0000_R1N035
HL1_125954-CHINA-MR2_000000_0000_R1N035

Language available still only English.

Perform a Master reset with "reset settings". Language available still only English.

Perform a Master reset with "reset all". Now six Language option available.

Please backup themes, ringtones and files in phone memory before Master reset with "reset all" option. Games have to be re installed (use bluetooth and sent game from PC with USB bluetooth device to phone in Window explorer)

Phone works fine now. SE fixed the website firmware upgrade issue.

They seemed to have updated the files for the APAC region and not for the EMEA regions. I tried downloading the update again and it still didnt work.

@mrcreativity

I would drop a line to SE mind they send you a automatic reply and then the real reply in a few hours or a day....

I tried that. But the email always goes to my regional SE people. Is there like a global support email address that will actually get the message across?

Btw, thanks for answering my stupid questions.

So far, I've tried the India site, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Sweden & The UK. I still can't manage a full update (anything past 47%). I've lost the use of my camera, just like many others.

I tried the master reset technique, but that did nothing other than remove the games & themese that came with my phone.

I guess I'm just one of the unlucky ones, doomed to remain stuck with no camera.

Hey there!

It's been long time since my last post. An hour ago I succeeded in updating K750i to R1N via SEUS. I had like 5 unsuccessful attempts on my laptop stopping at 46-49% and leaving camera unchanged to 4.4. Then I moved to my other PC which has: REAL IP and is directly connected to the internet (cable DSL). The update went straightforward and completed with no errors. It got to 52% and then jumped to 100% but with a success message. Everything works just fine.

I have:

Direct internet connection with real IP address
Windows 2000 Pro
Installed USB Flash drivers for K750i
Installed all the other drivers that come on the CD
(not installed PC suite)
Fully charged K750i connected with the cable in the box
SEUS v1.19
Sun Java (latest version)
Firefox 1.0.7
------
I believe this was enough for the upgrade, but I still did these 2 before the upgrade:
-removed the MemoryStick Card
-did a hard reset (all) before
------

It now shows:

R1N035
prgCXC 125952_EU_1_CL
R1N035

Camera SW versions
Camera
Current: 4.5

ITP: R1E

Customization:
CDA 102337/3 R5A
cxc125953 R1N035
EMEA_3

Content version
PA19

-------

The phone is sim-free, never been locked, never been branded, 1 week old (bought from M-Tel GSM Bulgaria)

@dean

Good for you, man! I did this in almost the same way, but a month ago.

BTW, where in Bulgaria are you from?

I just went into the SE shop here in Dalian (China), and was told to go back at the end of the month. They only have the online update available to them to fix customers' phones, and apparently, the release online is unstable (no kidding!!).

They'll have a more stable release from SE at that time, and they'll be able to fix mine. Until then, I just have to get by with no camera.

It could have been worse: he had a customer in there this morning whose w800 was completely dead after trying to upgrade!
