One big problem for me (i am from greece) is that updating to R1AA008 caused a BUG in the SMS editor. I am no longer able to write lowercase Greek letters. Another BUG that was already there and that is known with all SE phones is that SE doesn't include a "final lowercase S" ('ς' <- if it's displayed properly to you) in the Greek Alphabet that is included. That, for us is a BIG misshit because almost all male nouns end with a final 's'.

Final s and all lower-case characters have been supported in SE phones since the T28. Inputing them might be a problem. Check PM

I upgraded my K750 to the EU3 EL greek language R1N firmwire for W800I and I cant even write an SMS in lowercase greek letters. It's all uppercase. It sucks.
I did a soft hard reset but no joy. I'm not upgrading to R1AA because of the caller background problems
Any ideas?

@BadBoy8: I've had the same problem until today, what I did was to master reset the phone, unistall the SEUS2 client (and after that go to C:Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Service and delete that folder) reinstall the SEUS2 client version 2.2.11b.
After the upgrade I've do the master reset again because my phone wasn't showing all the languages but only the english.

By master reset u mean HARD master reset (Reset all)??
after doing this u didn't encounter the "script error" message anymore???or despite the error message ,after the reset u got ur languages back???

Yes, I'm talking about Reset all and what I did was to make a reset all before update, then update (this time without the script error) and after that do other reset all to get all the languages back (you can skip the 2nd reset all if your phone gets all the languages you need after the update, in my case it didn't)
@BadBoy8: I use MyPhoneExplorer to make a back up of all my data (contacts, SMS messages, calendar, alarms AND files in the phone memory)
P.S. In the update process I took off the SIM and the MS DUO
Motorola microtac -> Nokia 6120 -> Ericsson T10s -> Siemens C35i ->  Z200 -> Motorola V300 ->  W800i R1BC002 ->  W810i R4CE012 W810 power!!!  |

About the hissing sound in R1AA008 (when making phone calls).
As I have written about here earlier, I have updated three K750 to the new firmware. Before the update they had no hissing sound. After the update they all have hissing sound. To prove that there really is a problem with the new firmware with hissing sound I used DaVinci to re-flash back to R1N035. Then the hissing goes away.
Yesterday I took it one step further just to be sure: My friend got himself a brand new K750 for christmas present. At once he wanted the walkman feature, so we decided to load R1AA008 for W800 on his new phone (using DaVinci). The phone came with R1N035 and had no hissing sound whatsoever when we tried making some random phone calls. When we had flashed it with R1AA008 for the W800 the hissing sound was there!
So, the hissing sound is there for both K750 and W800. It's 100 percent related to R1AA008 - no doubt!
I have now tried so many different configurations that I'm sure ALL phones with R1AA008 suffer from this hissing sound. To those of you who say there's no hissing sound: You are wrong! Make sure it's quite in your surrounding ... turn the volume down (below 5 bars) and listen very carefully to the persons voice that to you are talking to ... there's your hissing sound - for sure!
I have mailed SE about this (even called them) many times in the last couple of weeks since I found out about this annoying problem, but they don't listen ... they say there's no such problem ... instead they say it's my network provider that has a bad reception. Well, how can that be when all other phones (even K750 with firmware below R1AA008) sound perfect in the exact same spot I'm calling from (using same sim card)?
Question (to SE): Why don't you just try it out and listen for yourselves? |

Its not a bug that it takes 1sek to load a full size 2mp picture when used as contact ID. Maybe you havent noticed before on earlier firmwares, but it has allways been like that, and it is quite logical if you read the reply. Naturally it takes a litle longer to load and rescale a 400kb picture than it does to load a 10kb picture that doesnt need to be rescaled because it has the correct dimension allreday.
Just try to go to filemanager and open one of your 2mp camerapictures, there will be a small 1sek delay before its opened, the same delay will be there if you use it as contact photo.
Merry Christmas to you to, and to everyone else also

no, nothing gets erased by updating firmware.
Only resetting the phone erases.
Settings reset erase settings.
Master resert erase everything on phone, both settings and data, but not on memorystick.

Noted the use of Center Weighted Average metering in R1AA along with the inability to zoom into larger pictures in the first post. |

Yes, Orange currently uses R1N035. If you own a UK branded phone and use SEUS to update to a software revision later than what I have stated in the first post, then let me know via PM! |
