I trust random when he says there will be no flagship in the first half of 2016, it has long been stated that they will move away from the two flags a year routine.
I do expect two tablets and possibly an Ultra at the first half shows though.
I'm not holding my breath for Ultra, as I said before I believe the Ultra segment is dropped for the Z series until they can figure out exactly what they want to do with it and make a more solid approach. The first Ultra had a mixed identity, on one hand they watered down the camera because it is supposed to be a productive device, on the other hand the pencil input system was not quite as productive as the S-Pen to which they will inevitably be compared. On top of all that the screen handset in total was just a bit too big for the market at the time (it was/is closer to a 7" tablet than a 5" or even 5.5" phone).
I would love to see the Ultra return with a near bevel-less ~6" screen, respectable camera (with LED flash) and a choice of pencil input or a stylus accessory. They should make a full function s-pen-esque accessory, make it an after market purchase if necessary is ok AND include the pencil input for cheapskates who won't pay £50 for a pen. This would sell like hot cakes.

Weren't the Tablets Z, Z2 and Z4 all announced at MWC? Unless they've changed their development cycle then it's likely.

Could be. But Z3+ Z5 and Z6 in less than one year. Kind of scary. I think they'll go tablets and Ultra at MWC. Next series at IFA. Z will eventually transform to Premium. So we'll have Z and Z compact at the end of the year. |
